"What... what was that?" he murmured, his voice hoarse.
The voice he'd heard still echoed in his mind, though it sounded unnatural.
He ran a trembling hand over his face, trying to understand what he had just heard.
[The host's soul is now completely integrated with the body].
This sentence struck him particularly hard. It had been his most hidden secret coming into this world, and this voice had brought it completely out into the open.
A heavy silence settled over the room, but Adam had no time to calm down as the voice returned, this time sharper, almost insistent:
[Do you wish to activate the life simulator? Yes/no].
He gasped and looked around, but there was no one there. He stood up and looked at his reflection in the mirror. Nothing unusual. Just a tired teenager with a few bruises here and there.
His previous miserable appearance had largely disappeared after his shower.
"Life simulator...?" he repeated aloud, as if to confirm that he wasn't dreaming.
But no one answered him.
But he was far too intrigued to answer no.
"What if this is my revenge? Or at least make up for my bad talent?"
"It's probably the opportunity of a lifetime."
He went back to lying in bed, staring at the ceiling.
After a long moment of reflection, he murmured:
"Yes."
[Simulator activated.]
[Start simulation.]
[Choice of world in progress.]
[Detected that there are no unlocked worlds]
[Would you like to unlock a world?]
[Unlocking the first world is offered].
"Yes." Adam simply replied.
At this point, it was all he could answer.
[Randomly unlock a world].

[...]
[Yxa's world has been unlocked!]
[Would you like to simulate a life in the world of Yxa?]
Maxime shrugged, obviously not having much choice.
But at the same time a certain excitement ran through his body, not knowing what was going to happen.
"Yes."
[Character creation in progress...]
[No Yxa point balance available.]
[Access to attribute points, talents and family background is therefore unavailable].
[Character creation complete].
[Year 1: You are born into an ordinary hunting family in a small village in the Organ empire.]
[Year 2: You begin to explore the world around you. Despite your young age, you can already walk properly, and you begin to do light muscular exercises to establish a good physical base for the future. You're beginning to speak properly. Your peculiarity is noticed by the neighbors, who start complimenting your parents on having given birth to a genius, which makes your father particularly proud].
[Year 3: Tragedy strikes your family. A group of raiders attacks the village, killing your parents before your very eyes. You are captured and sold into slavery. Memories of your previous lives allow you to escape deep trauma and give you the conditions to survive in brutal conditions].
[Year 4: You work in the fields for just a few pieces of bread every day. The lack of food weakens your body. You begin to plan ways to reduce your suffering and eventually free yourself].
[Year 6: You begin to feel powerless in the face of your situation, and your understanding of the world is still at a standstill].
[Year 7: An unusual event occurs. Your masters subject you to a talent test. However, the results seem disappointing. You notice cold looks and disappointment from your masters. After this test, the attention on you has been drastically reduced, leaving you more freedom].
[Year 8: Your miserable life continues, your body is getting leaner and you are much smaller than other children of a similar age. You observe the martial arts practiced by the guards, but you get nothing out of them even if you imitate them properly. Instead, your body deteriorates further].
[Year 9: Your luck changes. During a riot instigated by many strong-willed slaves, you manage to escape. You wander the forests for weeks, surviving by eating whatever you can find along the way. The desire for revenge keeps you on your feet despite the hardship].
[Year 10: You arrive in a village. With your memories of your previous lives, you are wise enough not to reveal your slave past, instead creating one from scratch. A lone grandfather adopts you out of pity and takes care of you].
[Year 11: You secretly train to improve your body, although food intake remains mediocre. As food intake is mediocre, so are the results of your training. You become very close to the grandfather who adopted you. He tells you that in the world of Yxa, there are certain people who possess supernatural powers compared to ordinary people, but to your regret, he doesn't know any more details].
[Year 12: You try to find out more about these extraordinary powers by talking to the villagers, but get no useful information].
...
[Year 18: You consider leaving the village to explore the world. Your resolve to avenge your family had become extremely strong, and above all you are extremely curious about the outside world].
[Year 19: You leave the village armed only with your courage. On the road, you meet a group of mercenaries numbering around thirty. You ask them if you can join them. They hesitate at first, but you manage to convince them that you won't be a burden].
[Year 20: You officially become a member of the mercenary group "Les Loups Endiablés" (The Devil Wolves) thanks to many efforts to befriend them and earning their respect by training hard. However, because of your difficult childhood, you're one of the weakest mercenaries in the group. By joining the mercenary group, you manage to gain a great deal of information about Yxa's world. In particular, it's said that some people awaken jewels in their minds, granting them various physical advantages and/or enabling them to wield mysterious powers. You become increasingly curious about this world, and hope one day to meet one of these people. However, you don't hope to become one of them, given the test you underwent as a child].
[Year 21: Thanks to regular training and repeated duels with other mercenaries, your mastery of the sword reaches an acceptable level in the mercenary group, but your physique is still lacking. ]
[Year 22: Your mercenary group accepts an assignment to escort a caravan from the city of Opalys to that of Poltia. But on the way, a volley of arrows fell from the sky on your mercenary group and the merchant's soldiers. Many people were seriously injured, but thanks to a combination of vigilance, responsiveness and luck, you were not among the wounded. But it wasn't over yet. Many armed men came hand-to-hand. You defended yourself quite well against one of the many assailants, but eventually you made a mistake and your adversary pierced your heart. You see your comrades and friends struggling to fight off other attackers as you fall to the ground. Your last regret is not being able to take revenge on your parents].
[You are dead.]
