EDWINA
I stood frozen, rooted to the spot.
The music from the party buzzed around me, but it all felt distant, muffled. Like I was underwater.
Kieran's words echoed in my mind, but I couldn't make sense of them.
I am not the man for you, Edwina.
That had to be a joke, right? A terrible, terrible joke.
There was no way he would say that and just walk away like that, not after everything.
He didn't just leave, right? Like we were nothing, like we didn't go through hell together.
My legs turned to jelly. I let out a shaky breath, one I hadn't realised how had been holding.
The atmosphere in the room had shifted.
Once filled with laughter and voices, it was now devoid of warmth. An awkward and suffocating silence filled the air.
Everyone had witnessed what happened, but no one dared to speak. Their intense gaze burned into mine, and I felt an embarrassed flush creep upon my cheeks.
