Chapter 31 : The start of the war

Void and Louyan departed shortly after the auction. The reason Void encountered Louyan was that the higher-ups wanted someone to keep an eye on him. After all, Void was a semi-legendary existence, powerful enough that a single outbreak could kill millions.

"Have you completed your investigation?" a shadowy figure asked Louyan.

Louyan bowed lightly, not daring to meet the figure's gaze. This was a god—specifically, the God of Shadows. It seemed the gods were finally awakening.

"My lord, yes. I used what you gave me, but it shows no sign of him being involved with those people, though it malfunctioned shortly after," Louyan replied, presenting a now-destroyed amulet.

"Hmm, your task is done. Stay low for now," the God of Shadows responded and then vanished.

Louyan discarded the amulet and walked away, blending into the crowd as if nothing had happened.
