Chapter 9 Joining office

"Maybe this human world has a few surprises left," she thought, lazily tracing patterns on her bedsheet. "After all, if I ruled many worlds, how hard could this be?"

Now, it was just a matter of finding something worth her time.

Vlogging? Hmm... It had potential, but the thought of putting herself in front of a camera? Lilith rolled her eyes. She had no desire to bless the world with her devilish charm—or her "devilish" face, as she liked to call it. Humans weren't ready for that.

Hacking? She yawned. Been there, done that. Boring. There was no thrill in it anymore.

Her eyes glanced at the clock. 11:00 PM. She sighed, sinking deeper into her pillows. "What to do...?" she mused, twirling a strand of her long black hair, her icy Blue gaze still fixed on the ceiling. This human world had possibilities, but none of them seemed fun enough. Not yet.

She turned off her laptop, the soft click of the lid closing almost echoing in the quiet of her room. Lilith stretched lazily, feeling her muscles relax as she climbed down from the bed. Placing the laptop on the study table, she yawned and made her way back to the bed.

Her fingers toyed with the edges of the blanket as she lay down, eyes half-closed but still alert. There was one thing she was waiting for—a call. A certain call that would ignite a thrill she hadn't felt in ages.

Being a secretary sounded surprisingly fun to her twisted mind.

After so long, the thrill of doing something purely because she wanted to, not because it was expected or necessary, felt like a gift.

"Why not do what I like?" she thought with a smirk playing on her lips. It was time to indulge herself a little.

The next morning, Saturday at 9:45 AM, Lilith's phone buzzed. Still half-asleep, she lazily reached over and checked the screen. Seeing the unknown number flash across it, her lips curved into a wicked smile.

Finally.

She accepted the call, her voice calm but laced with amusement. "Lilith speaking."

"Congratulations, Ms. Lilith," came the voice on the other end. "We'd like to officially welcome you as the new secretary of Carter Enterprises. You can join us from Monday."

Her smirk deepened. Finally, I am a secretary. The thought buzzed in her head as she listened to the details, but all she could think about was the fun she was about to have in this new role.

"Thank you," she said smoothly, hanging up shortly after.

Stretching her arms, she got up from bed with a new energy, feeling the excitement course through her.

The whole day, she spent indulging herself. First, she went shopping, picking out elegant clothes that would fit her new role perfectly. Every boutique she walked into, eyes followed her—admiring, curious humans unable to look away from her striking beauty. She paid them no mind, completely accustomed to the attention.

After shopping, she treated herself to lunch in a fancy restaurant. She enjoyed the meal, but the experience felt hollow. She can't eat daily outside, right? So, she decided to buy groceries for the evening. After all, it wasn't as if she couldn't cook. If she had to feed herself, she might as well do it with something homemade.

Later that evening, as she was unpacking her shopping bags, Lilith's phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen and saw an email notification from Carter Enterprises. Opening it, she skimmed through the contents: office hours, company rules, and dress codes.

Her eyes paused on the section about dress codes. "Professional attire only. No casual clothing."

Monday, 8:00 AM

It was a sunny day, and with her office time set for 9, Lilith was already irritated. Taking the bus was annoying, and she made a mental note: "I need to buy a car soon."

Walking confidently into Carter Enterprises, she approached the reception desk. The receptionist, Aria, had been expecting her and quickly handed over her ID badge. Lilith gave a casual smile, and Aria blushed slightly under the intensity of her gaze.

"Miss Lilith, your working floor is the fifteenth. First, you'll need to meet the secretarial team and the CEO's office manager to get settled in," Aria explained with a polite smile.

"Thanks..." Lilith paused, her gaze settling on the name tag. "Aria," she said softly. "Thanks, Aria."

With that, Lilith elegantly walked toward the elevator.

She felt the eyes on her—women stealing glances and men openly admiring her presence.

When Lilith pressed the button for the fifteenth floor, the shift in the atmosphere was palpable. Everyone in the elevator exchanged knowing glances, their expressions turning from admiration to pity.

"Someone's getting fired soon..." a few whispered under their breath, casting her sympathetic looks.

Lilith, however, didn't waste her time on their insignificant thoughts. These little humans were beneath her notice. As the elevator cleared out, she remained, unfazed, until it finally reached the fifteenth floor.

Ding! The elevator doors slid open, and a wave of cool, fresh air greeted her. She stepped out.

The spacious floor had a minimalist yet luxurious feel, with marble floors reflecting the light from large glass windows.

Rows of desks were neatly arranged in an open space where secretaries were already busy typing away or answering calls. Everything felt organized, efficient. Ahead, there was a glass partition that separated the main office from the CEO's room.

Lilith took it all in, her lips curving slightly. She walked towards the first desk, where a guy with neatly styled hair and deep black eyes was sitting. As she approached, he felt her presence and raised his brows, his expression a mix of curiosity and caution, but he didn't say a word.

"Hi, I'm Lilith, the new secretary," she introduced herself confidently, leaning slightly against the desk as she assessed him.
