Milo grit his teeth as he pushed the blade deeper into the hide of the creature, inch by inch, determined to pierce its core. 

Finn's eyes were glued to Milo as he strained every muscle to drive his blade deeper into the beast's resistant hide, bracing himself to be ready to strike if needed. But, out of the corner of his eye he spotted movement. He looked down to see serpentine shadows shifting unnaturally and his pulse spiked.

"Milo, move!" he yelled his voice sharp and cracking from the urgency.

Milo looked up to see the tendrils racing towards him. Finn held his breath, watching as Milo twisted his body just in time, leaping away to avoid the deadly appendages as they collided, missing him by what could only be described as a hairs width, but they didn't stop there, as they began flailing chaotically, smashing into the stone wall, sending it crashing down under their assault.
