Her Memories

The World Only Devils Know, also known as TWODK was one of the most trending webnovels because of it's unique cover and awe-inspiring synopsis. Though it wasn't revealed why it was named like that before Jason died he still had some hints:

When the main character killed the pope he did not receive any divine punishment even though he had killed the messenger of the gods.

The pope had planned to use a sacrifice to finally draw the god's attention to them, the main character was opposed to that.

The monsters had broken out of eternal damnation from hell and half of the world was wiped out before they even knew what was happening.

No so-called god did anything to help humanity.

Mana that was released to the world only after Monsters attacked wasn't due to the gods but because the mana had followed the monsters' out of hell.

The mana was weak before it gradually increased and strengthened humans.

There were also several other reasons but these were the most important ones, before he died he was unable to see everything but now with his near-perfect memory he could work everything out.

Jason opened the door and entered the house he had been living in for the past decade or so. He saw Emily huddled in one corner practicing meditation, since no individual would no when they awakened Jason thought that if she increased her mental fortitude she would be able to sense if she awakened.

"I'm back." Jason said before closing the door.

After the encounter with the off springs of the second elder his mood soured, he didn't have a problem with the boy since even after he was rejected he didn't react the same way his sister reacted. That girl didn't have any problem with him yet was treating him like he had broken her finger.

Wait, he did break her finger but that was in self defense.

Jason felt a headache coming, if she reported to the clan there would surely be some problems, maybe he should have just acted like an annoying mob character and taken the hit.

"Sir." Emily said suddenly.

This was her way of addressing him since he had forbidden calling him master, sir made him feel like he was 30 years old.

"Yes?"

Jason sorted out what he had bought while paying attention to her, he had bought 2 daggers since a half-decent katana or sword were more expensive than he had currently.

"Would you abandon me if I get my memories back?" She asked, Jason was taken aback by the sudden question.

"I wouldn't." He said firmly. "After all the trouble I got into to save you from those people that were beating you abandoning you would just be a waste."

Emily seemed to be in deep thought, she couldn't understand most of the words she heard but she could comprehend the meaning behind what he said: he wouldn't abandon her.

"I- I've had my memories back."

'That was quick.' Jason thought.

"Can you tell me about your parents?"

Emily hesitated for a minute before beginning.

"Daddy was rich and my mom died when I was born, daddy was upset and was always crying. He loved me. But bad people took me away and daddy was angry, so daddy died and the bad people took me. They didn't give me food and brought me here then you found me."

Jason began thinking.

'I didn't get as much information as I wanted but at least I can deduce something.' Jason thought, Browns had sounded familiar before but since she dressed as a slave he assumed her parents died and the debtors took her away.

'Browns, browns, browns, browns... Where have I heard that name before?' Jason thought as he began thinking.

Near-perfect memory wasn't perfect memory so there was 1% of things that wouldn't stick to his brain, but it was better than barely remembering anything except the important details.

"I've got it!" Jason shouted before snapping his fingers.

Emily looked at him in fear, she was afraid of what he was thinking about, afraid that he would give her back to the people that took her.

"The Browns are a medium influential family that were introduced, they had a medium amount of dungeons but went bankrupt because their dungeons took more commission after completion. But there wasn't anyone like Emily, the heir that made the Browns bankrupt was male.

Nothing was mentioned about Emily... But I guess that makes sense since it was barely a two chapter flashback with no significance to the novel by the heir that destroyed everything before dying like a bug."

While Jason was muttering to himself Emily watched him, she had seen him do this a couple of times but it was still weird.

After a minute he stopped and looked at her, she felt her heart skip a beat in fear that he would give her back to the people that were beating her.

"Well, I guess there isn't anything that we can do about it. Since you have no family I'll take care of you."

From her previous expression Emily face's lit up as a joyous smile was etched onto her face.

She nodded 3 times.

"You should keep training, always be ready for the unexpected.: Jason said before turning his attention back to the things he bought.

Hearing his words Emily put her entire focus into meditation but a smile was still on her face.

Jason smiled seeing her, she thought he was the emotionless kind of person due to the way he was treating her but he still had a heart. It's just that he didn't allow people see that.

"Two daggers." He said to himself.

Those were literally the only thing he could buy.

One of the daggers was had a red handle decorated with a budding flower design, it's blade was black perfectly able to blend in the night. The other one had a black handle with a star design drawn on it with gold, unlike the other one the blade was silver color.

He would give one to Emily once she was ready... and he was able to use a dagger himself.

But right now his own job was to watch her train, he was responsible for her growth and how she progressed would also affect him.

After she was done meditating he instructed her on fighting styles, since the fighting styles he used in this world were majorly the ones he watched were from anime in her five year old eyes the styles he used were strange.

Jason didn't have much time to do anything, as he watched her train he lazily browsed the system shop looking at the several expensive items that caught his eyes. Surprisingly there was nothing here that temporarily boosted fighting capabilities, it wasn't much of a shocker but it was still a surprise.

"That's all for today." He said to Emily as the sun set.

She had been training since he got back in the afternoon so she deserved rest.

Jason went into the kitchen to prepare food for both of them.

'At least this isn't a crappy academy novel that I would have to spend years repeating school.'

He looked at the bright side of it.

'But instead of that I got reincarnated in The World Only Devils Know, what a bummer.'

Even the main characters with their extra-ordinary plot armor were dropping like flies.

"Such a cruel world." Jason said to himself as he finished.

"Such a cruel word."
