Chapter 41

I went to Alzid's condo feeling dejected and alone. I had to leave; I shouldn't stay here any longer. I couldn't face him anymore. Luckily, I still had enough money for the fare to get home and a little left from my salary at the café.

I couldn't stop crying as I packed up my things and stuffed my clothes into my bag.

"Oh, Laine, where will you end up now? You have nothing left; you're just trash now," I whispered to myself as tears started falling again.

My fate is so bitter—I always end up alone. No one ever stays; no one wants to be with me. Even my own parents don't care about me. Am I the problem? Is it my fault that they leave and abandon me? It's so frustrating.

I'm angry at myself, but what else can I do? I have to keep going.

Once I had put everything in my suitcase, I walked out of the condo. But I went back in, tore a page from my notebook, and started writing. I wanted to leave him a note, just to thank him for all his kindness.
