"How was the meeting?" I coughed, awkwardly placing the cooked ramen in front of Jimin. Jimin stared at me in silence as I placed the chopstick for him.
"Sora-"
"You should eat while it's hot," I suggested, cutting him off as I slowly sat beside him but avoided his eye contact. I just feel really sorry... I shouldn't have reacted the way I did. Why am I so sensitive?
"Wae? Why are you like this?" Jimin sighed, turning to look at me as I bit my lips. I shouldn't have ignored him like that... aish... What was I thinking?
"Nothing, th-the ramen will become soggy!" I stuttered, lightly smacking his upper arm. Why is he so talkative... Can't he see that I'm guilty?
"Why aren't you eating? And why are you-" I interrupted Jimin's flooding questions by pecking his lips. Jimin pursed his lips, so I cleared my throat and straightened my back. I briefly glanced at Jimin and shyly averted my eyes away when he wouldn't stop staring at me.
"You- What's wrong-" I leaned in to give Jimin another peck again since he wouldn't shut up. Jimin sat watching my odd behavior in confusion.
"Mianhae..." I whispered as I stared at him in guilt.
"Don't say that. I understand," Jimin shook his head. God, why is he so understanding? This makes me feel even more guilty.
"Jimin-" Before I could explain, Jimin's phone started ringing. Sighing, Jimin answered the call as he slurped the steamy ramen.
"-Yah. Where are you?!!" Jungkook snapped through the line. Why is he calling at this hour?
"In the kitchen... Wae?" Jimin asked, glancing at me in confusion.
"We have to go to the elite building. Now," Jungkook informed us through the phone. Wait, why? It's already 09:00 pm... another trouble? Or did someone die again???
"They returned. I don't know! Just hurry!" Jungkook urged us and hung up on the phone. Jimin furrowed his eyes at the phone screen in confusion.
"Who? returned? Is this a joke?" Jimin turned to look at me in confusion.
"We better get ready," I nodded. Jimin quickly gulped down the remaining ramen, and we hurried out of the kitchen. I quickly ran to my room and threw on whatever I saw in the closet before rushing out of my room. Taehyung, Jungkook, Mr. Jeon, and Mrs. Jeon were standing by the cars, waiting for us.
"I'll go with Sora," Jimin tugged my arm as soon as we exited the mansion. Taehyung and Jungkook got in one car while Mr. and Mrs. Jeon took the other. Jimin let out a deep sigh and leaned back against the seat.
"Are you alright?" I asked, reaching out to feel his forehead anxiously.
"Just sleepy..." Jimin smiled, linking his fingers with mine.
"Get some sleep then. I'll wake you up when we get there," I smiled, gently tugging his head onto my shoulder.
Turns out, the urgent meeting we had to rush to- in the middle of the night was to announce the supreme alpha parents' arrival. It's ridiculous. Eomma and appa didn't even smile when they saw me, so I ended up sitting beside them in silence. Well, I prefer it this way since I don't want to talk to them anyways. They went through some protocols- I didn't care, so I didn't even pay attention to their words. I was too busy watching Jimin from the lower seat. He was dozing off in exhaustion. They were announcing new regulations or something. I don't care. Apparently, Taehyung, Seokjin, and my parents flew to Japan to organize a new society and rules for the alphas. It's dumb. I know.
"Finally..." I sighed when the meeting was finally dismissed.
"Sora-"
"I'm tired. Please. Can we talk later?" I sighed, turning to look at my parents. I don't want to talk to them. I quickly turned and walked towards Jimin.
"Ah... a cup of warm coffee would do," Jimin sighed as we rode back home.
"Most of the shops are closed at this-" I abruptly stopped when I turned to find Jimin snoring quietly against the window. Did he sleep talk...? Ah... he's really cute.
"Oh! Can you stop the car?" I called out when I noticed a coffee shop. It was still open.
"But-"
"I'm just going to grab a few drinks! I'll be right back!" I pouted at the driver, who was a bit hesitant about my order.
"Please be careful. I need to bring you home safely," The driver sighed, stopping the car for me. Smiling, I got off the car and rushed inside to find a staff cleaning the table.
"We're closed-"
"Hello, can't you make one more drink? Please?" I pleaded, walking up to the staff. I need to get coffee for Jimin.
"No, we're- oh?" The staff turned to face me but quickly stopped when he saw me. Omo... I blinked several times in shock.
"P-park Bogum?" I gasped after recalling his name.
"Yah... you must be kidding me. Are you stalking me?" Bogum scoffed in disbelief.
"Why would I!? Anyways, please make me a cup of Americano!" I smiled at him. Bogum turned to look at the clock on the wall and back at me.
"Yah-"
"Please?-"
"We're closed-"
"Come on~" I whined at him.
"Araso! Araso!" Bogum snapped, darting me a glare before rushing behind the counter.
"You work here, huh? Tsk... you even had time to go clubbing," I muttered while leaning against the counter. He glared at me while he prepared the coffee. What's with him and the glare?
"What kind of a boss makes you work at this hour? He must be a terrible person," I continued talking when he refused to speak.
"He's not that bad," Bogum sideways glared at me. Tsk...
"I mean-"
"Why are you so talkative!?" Bogum snapped at me in annoyance. I bit my lips, feeling a bit offended by his rude tone but decided to drop it.
"Just hurry up and make the coffee! I'm going to report you to your manager the next time I visit and tell him about your rudeness!" I gritted my teeth at him. So annoying!
"Is that your car? Are you rich or something?" Bogum asked, glancing at the black Bentley parked outside the cafe. That's not even the most expensive. I gulped and turned back to look at him. I shouldn't reveal my identity... it's too dangerous...
"It's not mine-"
"Then why are you riding it? How can you afford it? Ah... is it your boyfriend's car? Or is it your sugar daddy's car?" Bogum turned to smirk at me. I stood staring at him in shock. Is he out of his mind?
"YAH! It's not like that! I'm... I'm... I work for a rich family!" I coughed awkwardly. I hope it's a convincing excuse.
"Ah... you mean as a maid? Or a nanny?" Bogum teased. This guy... Why is he so cocky?
"Ani-"
"AH! Did the rich people treat you badly? Is that why you were so angry back at the bar???" Bogum asked while smiling at me. I stood quietly eyeing him in annoyance. Even if I mention I'm an alpha, he'll probably laugh it off instead of trembling in fear.
"You-"
"Yah! What are you doing!?" Jungkook suddenly burst through the door, startling me. Oh fuck ... I quickly turned to look at Bogum and back at Jungkook.
"I'm getting coffee, sir," I quickly bowed at Jungkook, causing Jungkook to abruptly stop dead in shock. I just want to live like an ordinary person...
"Wha- What's wrong with you???" Jungkook asked, jokingly smacking my forehead, causing me to wince in pain. I raised my hand- attempting to punch Jungkook but immediately stopped when I noticed Bogum watching us. Well shit... I'll kill him later. Calm down, Sora...
"I'm sorry, sir," I quickly bowed again at Jungkook.
"YAH! WHY ARE YOU-" Jungkook tried to flick my forehead again but abruptly stopped when Bogum caught his hand.
"You shouldn't abuse your employee," Bogum stated, staring sharply at Jungkook, so he glanced back and forth between us in total confusion.
"Let go of me!" Jungkook snapped, yanking his arm away.
"Here, it's my treat," Bogum smiled, pushing the coffee into my hands.
"Ani! Take-"
"Do you guys know each other?" Jungkook asked while staring at us.
"Ani! We don't know each other!" Bogum and I quickly refuted at the same time.
"Then why-"
"Ah! It's a promotion we have! The last customer gets a free drink!" Bogum smirked at Jungkook.
"She's not the last. I am," Jungkook scoffed at me.
"We're closed," Bogum stated with a straight face.
"Yah-"
"Do I have to force you out, sir?" Bogum tilted his head at Jungkook. Jungkook was fuming red, but before he could say anything else- I dragged him out of the store.
"Yah! He has no idea who he's dealing with!" Jungkook pressed his tongue against his inner mouth in annoyance.
"You're so embarrassing," I shook my head at him in disappointment.
"Oh? Me? Hah... give me that coffee-"
"No! It's for Jimin," I snapped, backing away quickly, and rushed back into the car.
Although I told my parents we'd talk at home, I kept on avoiding them because I wasn't up for any more of their secretive life. They were the closest people to me, but after the sudden exposure to the truth- I felt like I was being deceived. I had no one on my side, not even my parents. What else are they hiding from me?
"Why are we here? Where are we?" I asked, glancing around a looming building in surprise. My class just ended, and I'm supposed to head home, but why am I in front of a grand building instead?
"It's your assigned class after school," The driver informed as he opened the door for me. MOH?
"What are you- yah!" Before I could complain, the driver drove away- leaving me alone in front of the building.
"Annyeonghaseyo! Please come in, Ms. Jang. Your first time?" A middle-aged woman appeared, beckoning me over.
"Annyeong- Annyeonghaseyo~" I bowed uncomfortably. The woman had short bob hair and a long slender body with monolid eyes.
I found out my so-called parents implemented the new rules for this fucked up society. Every alpha is required to take self-defense classes in addition to many other activities after school. And today, I have a Taekwondo class. Am I a child? I got changed, and then the lady led me to a door before turning around to leave without another word.
"Why am I the only one here..?" I murmured as I entered a spacious room filled with mats. Sighing, I walked over to the large glass window and tugged back the curtain to find the Han River view. Waah~ What the hell? This building must be expensive. Since the room was a bit dark, I wanted to let the lights in. I turned to search for the pulley to open the curtain. But the string was way out of my reach. Sighing, I tiptoed and tried to reach it, but I couldn't- so I jumped a few times but still couldn't reach it. Suddenly, I felt a hard surface pressing against my back. Before I could react- an arm slithered its way around my waist- the person reached out with another hand to pull the curtain open.
"Be careful," Yoongi's chilling voice brushed against my ear, causing goosebumps to spread across my entire body. I quickly turned to find Yoongi's pale face and sucked in my breath. I uneasily stared at him in shock. No matter how hard I searched his eyes... the old Yoongi wasn't there anymore. His eyes... It was empty.
"Let me go," I gulped, leaning back, but he kept his arm wrapped firmly around me.
"I know everything," Yoongi dawdled with a sly smirk as he stared at me. My heart sank. Why is he like this? What does he want from me?
"What- What are you talking about-"
"Come on, why are you so stiff? It's not like we're strangers... are we...?" Yoongi questioned, leaning closer to me. I backed away but couldn't go any further when I felt my back pressing against the cold glass window.
"Yoongi... stop," I gritted when he inched his face closer to mine.
"Sora... I know you better than anyone else. Why are you even with that asshole- What about us-"
"I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!" Jungkook suddenly burst into the room. Seizing the opportunity, I quickly pushed Yoongi off me. I slid away, but Yoongi caught my arm and tugged me back towards him.
"What are you doing?" Jungkook abruptly stopped when he saw us. I swallowed in difficulty and darted Jungkook a restless expression to signal my discomfort.
"None of your business," Yoongi spat firmly. Jungkook glanced at our hands, then turned to look at me in confusion.
"What's going on-"
"Let her go," Taehyung's dull voice suddenly boomed as he came striding into the room. He dropped his bag against the wall.
"I don't want to," Yoongi smiled, tightening his grip around my wrist. I tried to yank my arm, but it didn't work.
"Release. Her. Now." Taehyung clenched his jaw as he turned to stare at Yoongi, dead in the eyes.
