Chapter 55: The show has just begun

While all the men were gathered to protect their young leader, a mysterious assassin was dancing in the shadows of the building.

Some lights even turned off, more specifically the ones on every corner of the room.

"THE MONSTER IS HERE! PROTECT HARUTO AT ALL COSTS!" Akira screamed with all her might.

All the men around Haruto raised up their weapons, aiming every corner of the room from down to above.

Making a move there was almost impossibile, but not for Hina.

She knew that place like it was her home.

She knew hidden paths, places and more importantly, she perfectly knew how to kill without being noticed.

"Show yourself, Hina." Haruto exclaimed.

Yuna was still tied up on the chair but Haruto and his army weren't caring about her at all.

She was standing in the middle of the room with her eyes red from crying and she was trying any kind of movement to break free.

Kai was still observing the situation from his safe place, waiting for the perfect moment to free his friend.

The tension in the air was really palpable and the adrenaline was flowing in everyone's veins.

Kai grabbed his phone and sent a rapid message to Sakura, giving her his current position.

After putting the phone back, he peeked from the door, taking advantage of the bad guys' lack of attention.

He showed himself to Yuna for some seconds.

Her eyes widened in surprise and her movements became even more intense, like she was screaming "Please, help me!!!!".

Despite her fear, she was happy to have seen Kai coming to save her.

Kai minicked a "stay silent" gesture by putting his index finger on his mouth , to tell Yuna not to make any kind of strange noise.

She tried to calm down and relaxed her body.

Then, Kai moved back to his safe place again, waiting for the perfect chance to strike.

Then, a loud silence filled the entire place.

The men were still standing in guard, ready to shoot at every kind of menace.

Then, a sudden laughter echoed in the distance , coming from Haruto's back, on the right side of the building.

That sound made Kai's heart remember what he saw in the abandoned school , when he literally witnessed a massacre.

He felt a shiver running trough his spine as he recalled all the memories of one of the worst day of his life.

Everyone including Yuna immediately turned their heads towards the source of the sounds.

Another loud silence filled the big room for some instants.

Hina stayed hidden in the shadows, exploiting the darkness and confusion to strike without being seen.

Her movements were stealthy, like a predator stalking its prey.

Without ever fully revealing herself, she maneuvered silently, choosing the precise moment to act.

She was the perfect assassin, someone who had a special talent in murdering people…

But she only wanted a normal life like a normal girl, nothing more than that.

A slight rustle, almost imperceptible, was the only indication of her presence as she approached one of Haruto's men.

She then threw a little stone near one of his men and stomped her feet on the ground to make a noise.

Then, Akira screamed:

"SHE'OVER THERE! KILL HER! SHOOT!" And with that, all the men shot some bullets, but with no results.

Another loud but scary silence filled the room until Akira spoke again.

"You." She said with a cold voice, talking to one of the men protecting Haruto.

"Yes, Captain." He replied.

"Go check behind that column."she said, with a direct tone of voice like a true leader.

The man swallowed some saliva and then slowly walked towards the column.

There was a small door leading to another room but it was closed.

He kept walking really slowly with his hands gripping on his weapon really tightly.

You could literally read the word "Fear" on his face.

Once he was close enough, he turned his flashlight on and saw nothing, just a pile of cement bags.

He relaxed his body and turned his head towards Akira.

"Okay… there's no-" but he never finished his sentence.

In an instant, Hina's blade slipped between the target's ribs and throat, delivering a silent, lethal strike.

He let out some strange noises from his mouth, a drown sound of pain.

His eyes were open wide and you could see life leaving his body.

His hands tried to reach throath but with no results.

But before his body could fall to the ground, a girl appeared from behind him and embraced his body by preventing him from falling down.

Hina finally showed herself to the enemy.

Her face was filled with nothing more than a malicious smile and her eyes became by the same color of the blood: Red.

"Guess who's back… Fufufu~" Hina whispered, while licking her knife.

The body fell to the ground lifeless, the blow executed with precise lethality.

She finally showed her true nature: the murderer.

Nothing more than a wild beast only born to kill people.

She was gone into her berserk mode.

Haruto's eyes widened in fear and surprise.

He probably expected Hina to be there, but didn't expect something like that.

Yuna's expression changed totally.

She was finally happy to have seen Kai, but after seeing Hina she became terrified and she was on the verge of passing out.

Her heartbeat increased by a lot and her breath became more heavier than before.

Kai tried to remain still but his sensitive nature actually made him feel a knot in his stomach after seeing such a deadly kill.

Hina promised him to be a good girl and don't kill anyone but she was doing all of this to protect her only source of happiness.

She would've destroyed the entire world just to make Kai happy.

All she wanted was to be loved and accepted for who she was.

Despite everyone's fear, Akira was the only girl who didn't get scared by her.

Instead, she had a look of anger on her face and clenched her left fist after putting her weapon down.

She gritted her teeth, sign of her anger.

"Hina… why are you doing this to us…?" Akira said, with a glimpse of pain in her voice.

Kai's expression became really surprised.

He began to ask himself any kind of question.

After hearing Akira's words, it became clear that Hina was involved with that criminal gang.

But he also knew that it wasn't the right time to ask questions.

"Hahaha… you already know the answer, Nee-Chan~" Hina replied with a hissing voice.

Her reply only made Akira even angrier.

Meanwhile, Kai didn't expect a surprise like this.

"Nee-chan…" he kept repeating in his mind, trying to figure out the connection between them.

They looked similiar but so different at the same time.

"You… still have the courage of calling me like that… you really hate me, don't you…?" Akira replied, with a painful and almost broken voice.

Hina then laughed like a maniac.

"No… I hate liars… that's… different." Hina said, while tightening the grip on her knife.

Akira looked down in the floor like she was feeling some kind of guilt.

"Hina… we are family… don't you remember?" This time, Haruto spoken with a soft and gentle voice.

He then walked trough his men and showed her a necklace.

Hina's eyes locked immediately into the small object.

"I don't care about it anymore, Haruto… you're hurting my boyfriend… my only source of happiness… you must die." Hina replied , but this time her voice was more aggressive.

Haruto sighed and realized that words couldn't reach her mind.

Hina had the perfect chance to kill him, but she hesitated for some kind of reason.

"Your boyfriend… you mean… Kai…?" He said.

Hina remained silent, probably angry after hearing Haruto saying her boyfriend's name.

"Don't you think that Kai would be sad if he saw that you killed a random man without hesitation? Don't you think that he will be scared of you…?" Haruto kept speaking.

Hina's eyes were open wide and her pupils were even smaller than before.

It looked like she was observing all the situation.

Haruto was probably trying to manipulate her and lose time, so that someone could shoot her at the right time.

The tension in the air was still palpable, but there was a glimpse of hope from Kai.

Everyone was too focused on Hina that forgot about Yuna's existence.

Nobody was looking at her, except for Hina.

Kai peeked from the door and finally noticed an opening.

He grabbed a knife from his pocket and began to sneak to Yuna.

Meanwhile, Haruto was still speaking some strange things, trying to distract Hina.

As soon as Kai sneaked inside, Hina saw him.

He noticed that and blinked his eye to her, signaling that he was fine.

This small gesture warmed Hina's heart , making her understand that Kai was actually okay with what happened and that he didn't feel sad or scared of her.

Haruto kept talking, giving Kai enough time to free Yuna and walk away with her.

"…And the man you killed… was father of two children… do you know that…?" Haruto said to Hina with an angry but fake tone.

Hina remained silent and looked down on the floor, but she was still looking at all of them somehow.

"YOU SHOULD KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO BE WITHOUT PARENTS, HINA! YOU KNEW THIS MAN!" Haruto screamed.

Hina kept staying silent until the entire room was filled with silence.

Then, she raised up her head and looked into Haruto's eyes with a disgusted look.

She then laughed like a maniac, leaving everyone with a negatively suprised expression on their face.

Everyone was speechless, not expecting a reaction like this from Hina.

"Oh… another lie… This man was nothing more than a molester… and Akira always hated him… her choice wasn't so random… she perfectly knew that he was gonna die. I literally granted her a favor." Hina replied with a very cold voice and a mischievous smile on her face.

The tension in the air was getting heavier.

Yuna were finally freed and the mission could be considered over… but it seems like Hina had some unresolved conflicts to deal with.

She raised up her knife , ready to strike at any moment.

Haruto sighed and then looked down on the floor.

Then… he suddenly screamed:

"SHOOT!"

Then , before an entire rain of bullets could Hina, she disappeared into the shadows once again.

Akira whispered something before shooting.

"I'm so sorry, little sis…" she said.

Another massacre was going to happen…
