Neuhaus looked at the situation on the field in a daze.
Ten minutes into the game, things were not going as he had expected. Instead, the situation was even worse for Union Berlin.
The scoreboard clearly showed: Cologne 1:0 Union Berlin!
He had planned to attack from the start, so how did this happen?
Let's rewind to ten minutes earlier. Union Berlin opened the game aggressively, pressing forward frantically to catch their opponents by surprise. However, they were like Tom charging into an iron wall.
The Cologne team started strong, prepared and determined, not giving Union Berlin any chances.
Especially Su Luo, who received special attention from his opponents!
Cologne's defensive midfielder, Rahman, was almost inseparable from Su Luo, constantly competing for position with him. Even without the ball, Rahman would pull Su Luo's jersey or bump into him. His movements were subtle, making it difficult to be called for a foul.
The 30-year-old veteran knew how to avoid the referee's notice on the field. Su Luo, being young, suffered quietly. He tried to shake off Rahman, but it exhausted him physically.
He touched the ball twice but was thwarted by Rahman's physical play. Whenever he was about to make a strong move, he was knocked down by rough fouls.
In less than ten minutes, Su Luo had been brought down three times!
"Hey! Shouldn't he get a card for that?" Su Luo complained to the referee.
The referee was unmoved, and the calls favored the home team.
With Su Luo temporarily neutralized and other positions targeted, Union Berlin's offense couldn't operate effectively.
In the 8th minute, Cologne took advantage of a Union Berlin pass error and launched a quick counterattack, scoring their first shot of the game!
"It's a counterattack goal! Let's give our applause to Anthony Ujah!" The home announcer's tone was mocking Union Berlin's tactics.
Cologne coach Stöger sat confidently, smiling as his plan worked perfectly. A paid broadcast channel even showed a close-up of Stöger, his tactics having successfully thwarted Union Berlin.
"Damn, he tricked us!" Bud, a die-hard fan, couldn't help but get angry watching Stöger on TV.
At Berlin-Buch Hospital, Bud had asked the nurse to set up the TV in his father's ward, only to find his team already behind.
His father had just undergone surgery, so Bud was there to care for him instead of traveling with Uncle Hans and others to the away game.
"It's so frustrating! They can't manage without me!"
"Don't stop me from watching the game!"
Lehmann, 79, slapped him on the back of the head. "As a supporter of the team, you should always be enthusiastic! Stop complaining!"
Reprimanded by his father in public, Bud had no choice but to continue watching the game in frustration.
The broadcast then showed a close-up of Su Luo. His flowing hair was wet with sweat, stuck to his forehead, making him look exhausted.
"Su, the amazing young player, has been running non-stop since the game began. Unfortunately, he's struggling with physical confrontations and is often pushed off the ball," the German TV commentator praised Su Luo's effort but noted his weaknesses.
"Come on, little brother from the East!" Anya cheered in front of the TV, eyes bright with hope.
"Luo, come on!" Josephine also canceled her afternoon schedule to watch the game from her apartment, clutching a pillow nervously.
...
Su Luo didn't realize he was on a close-up shot for three seconds. He saw the crisis in the backfield but lost the ball before he could catch up. Running too much left him feeling like he had swallowed iron, his lungs burning, and his mouth filled with a faint taste of blood.
"You should learn what offense is. What do you even fight for?" Rahman mocked with a playful smile, trying to get into Su Luo's head.
Su Luo, along with the wisdom of Ronaldo, felt a surge of frustration, tempted to break Rahman's nose with an elbow. But this was a stadium, not a fight ring. Making a rash move would result in a red card and suspension. The only real way to hit back was to score.
"Okay, then I'll show you," Su Luo said calmly.
"What do you mean?" Rahman was puzzled. They had studied this Asian kid thoroughly. Did he have a hidden trump card?
Indeed, he did. The Haaland template hadn't been used yet!
Before, Su Luo had relied on the Ronaldo template through the World Youth Championship qualifiers, the main stage, the Youth League, and the Bundesliga. The Ronaldo template proficiency was at the max level, while Haaland's was still at a novice level.
Su Luo had planned to get used to the Haaland template more during training, but now he had no choice. Solving the immediate crisis was more important.
The game resumed. Cologne continued to defend and counterattack, while Union Berlin controlled the ball outside, struggling to penetrate.
Captain Matuschka held the ball, looking for an opening. Su Luo signaled for a through pass, pointing to his ribs. Although he had been fouled repeatedly, Matuschka trusted Su Luo and sent a through ball.
Su Luo made a run, but Rahman was sticking to him like glue.
No worries, Matuschka still sent the through ball.
"Su Luo receives the ball, and Rahman is marking him closely."
"Rahman crashes! This ball is going to..."
Everyone expected Su Luo to lose the ball again, but this time was different. Rahman felt like he hit a wall—Su Luo didn't budge!
"How is this possible?"
Using Rahman's momentum, Su Luo accelerated towards the penalty area!
"Su catches the ball! He's breaking through, leaving Mario behind and entering the penalty area!"
"Su!!! Unbelievable, he takes a powerful shot!!"
In front of the TV, 79-year-old Lehman raised his hands in excitement, cheering like a child! Anya and Josephine cheered simultaneously!
In the 11th minute, Su Luo resisted Rahman's challenge, broke into the penalty area, and took an unstoppable shot, smashing the ball into Cologne's net!
1:1! Union Berlin equalizes the score!
