Ch 162: The tempting offer

For a minute, that was the only sound that permitted the emptiness of the hospital room.

Neither of the four said anything as they stood still in silence and waited for someone else to make the first move. 

Finally, Rika could not take the silence anymore, and she decided to address Mark.

"Are you not going to pick up the phone? It's Suzie, right? I am sure she is calling for you now. You should head to her and reassure her that everything is alright. Isn't that what you came here for in the first place? For her doctor's appointment?" Rika's words hung heavy in the air.

Rika asked in a tired voice. 

Her body felt like breaking down, and Rika was only held on due to her sheer willpower.

Mark looked conflicted. He repeatedly opened his mouth to decide when the phone fell silent and began to ring again.
