Trials or not

Four people were escorting him. All of them seemed like upperclassmen.

Are they afraid that he was going to run away? Klein thought. However, even if he wanted to run, there's nowhere he can hide. Moreover, he didn't want to make it difficult for Klarret, who made him feel the warmth of a mother.

They brought him to the courtyard where an altar was standing. On each corner of the altar, he noticed a golden totem with white carved patterns around their trunks. But the most distinct part of the altar was the object on top of it. An ominous swirling dark energy, also known as the entrance of the Void Lair.

"Move!"

As he was in shock staring at the familiar object in front of him, someone from the back pushed him forward.

Ugh!

He almost stumbled forward but managed to maintain his balance to avoid falling on the stone slab.

"Damn it! Why was I treated like a criminal?!" He exclaimed in annoyance.

"Fucking weight stigma! Shut the hell your mouth up! Or do you want us to beat you before throwing you into the entrance?!" The senior student with standing red hair threatened him.

Klein gritted his teeth and fell silent. It is really hard when you can't express your innocence. But for the sake of a comfortable and luxurious future, he'll endure it for now. He had already been through a lot of hell in his past life, something like this is nothing compared to it.

Looking at his sudden timidness, the senior student brought his face closer and jeered at him, "What? Are you afraid? Where's your arrogance from a while ago, ha?"

"Hey, man, don't forget this is the duke's son." One of the seniors warned the red-haired senior student, however, it sounded like he wasn't really concerned with Klein, but rather, interested in what was happening. In other words, he was lowkey adding fuel to the fire.

The other senior students also showed the same expression on their faces.

The red-haired senior student showed no response to his companions' words. He was well aware of Klein's status. Outside the academy, you can't hope to touch someone like Klein, perhaps. However, they were inside the academy. It was a good chance to shame a person like him.

He didn't like those in the higher nobility. Most of them were self-centered politicians who only cared about themselves.

Glancing to his side, a glint appeared in Klein's eyes. "Get away from me, bastard. You'll dirty my uniform."

The red-haired senior student was taken aback at his sudden cold response, but it only happened in a moment, because the next second, the red-haired senior student's face contorted into an ugly expression with a bulging cross-shaped vein surfacing on his face.

"Fucking pig, are you asking to die? Do you think the duchess can help you here? In this academy, weaklings like you are no more than trash!" said the red-haired senior student in a cold loud voice and glinting eyes.

The surroundings turned silent from the dangerous aura that the senior student emanated all of a sudden. He probably couldn't agree that this weakling son of the duke who couldn't even defeat a commoner, had managed to shake him for a second.

The other three senior students frowned and raised an eyebrow at Klein. This duke's son's arrogance is tremendously unforgivable.

The few people who were watching around were holding their breaths, intimidated by the dangerous aura the senior student emanated. They were there to witness the ill-mannered son climb the altar and enter the Land of Trials, however, what is this situation? Is the ill-mannered son of the duke trying to cause trouble again before entering the Land of Trial? Is he stupid? Did he think he could intimidate the senior students? The onlooker students thought in their minds.

To their surprise.

HAHAHA!

They heard a loud guffaw that broke the spell of intimidation and wafted away the heavy pressure from the surroundings.

What?

The senior student looked slightly surprised that the duke's son wasn't even intimidated by his aura.

"Bastard! Why are you laughing?" The red-haired senior student was so annoyed.

Klein stopped laughing and grinned. He glanced at the senior student and said, "Don't be so cocky, chicken boy."

"Wha—"

The red-haired senior student gawked and froze on the spot upon hearing it, opening wide his mouth and eyes and showing a stunned expression. In his mind, he wondered how this bastard knew that word, or was it a coincidence only? However, looking at the jeering expression on Klein's face, he couldn't help but tremble as he tried to suppress his anger.

Did he know about his traumatising embarrassing secret?

Klein grinned. His «Inspection» skill is truly a trump card. He secretly used it and learned that the senior student was a Level 20 Magic Swordsman. In terms of strength, he would lose against him no doubt. However, he also found something that he could use to attack him mentally. And that is the word chicken. It appears in his title the word «Chicken Slayer». He did not expect it to be so effective though.

"What's happening here?!"

A question made its way to the crowd. Everyone reflexively glanced in that direction. They saw Princess Layla approaching along with her entourage and unexpectedly, a brown-haired young lady, also known as the second daughter of Marquess Grand, was with her this time. Her real name is Nenet Grand.

It was the first time Klein saw her in person, but honestly, she was on par with the princess in terms of beauty. No wonder the previous Klein was "simping" so much on her.

"Klein Dorolt, are you causing a ruckus again?" Nenet asked coldly.

Klein frowned. "Young Lady, how can you be so perceptively slow?" He said, which put a raise on the eyebrow of Princess Layla and the others.

Nenet on the other hand, couldn't believe what she heard from him. Someone like Klein who was head over heels to her suddenly insulted her? This man who was all shy and embarrassed around her just recently is now telling her that?

"W-What did you say?!" Nenet was trembling in anger. This disgusting fatty was insulting her?

Klein waved his hand. "Well, never mind. Be happy now. This man who you are so disgusted with will now enter the den of mad beasts. Don't worry, from now on, I will not bother you anymore."

He walked on his own towards the altar and climbed it.

While on the stairs, he heard Princess Layla's call.

"Wait, Klein Dorolt!"

But Klein ignored it. He continued climbing until he reached the top. Finally facing the ominous swirling energy, he could feel the dangerous aura from it.

He stepped forward.

Trials or not, his bright future depends on this journey.
