The Search Begins

The boys are in the woods and started their search. Amari keeps stopping and takes deep breaths to get Nana scent and the direction they were going in. 

''How did this happen?''

''I don't know, I just know someone took her.''

''Where were you when this happened? If you knew they took her, why didn't you try to save her? What if she's already de-''

''Apollo! Calm down. I wasn't there when she was taken but I heard her cries. The only thing we should be focusing on is finding her now, anything else we'll worry about afterwards.''

''Okay... I'm just really worried for the worst-case scenario.''

They keep walking deeper into the woods and it is very dark. They hear numerous howls coming from deeper in the woods, Amari steps on a dry stick and it slowly makes a cracking noise. Apollo holds his hands up immediately, ready to fight whatever is coming.

''Calm down, it's just a stick... I'll tell you when danger is on the way.''

Apollo nods and they keep walking. It gets to a point where the woods are pitch black and they can't see anything including the trees and Apollo trips over a rock and falls.

''Why don't you get on my back? I'll carry you.''

''No! I'm not doing that.''

''Why, you won't be lucky next time, and you might hit your head on a rock next time. Plus, I can see what's through this darkness and you can't, just do it.''

Apollo sighs and admits to himself that his friend is right. He reaches out his hand and Amari grabs it on puts it on his shoulder, Apollo jumps on his back after he knows where he is.

''We never speak of this to anyone!''

''Okay.''

He starts walking and they walk for a while, and they keep hearing noises coming from bushes, but Amari keeps walking unalerted.

''Can you really see where we're going? because I'm starting feel very uncomfortable.''

''We've been walking for a while, and you're asking me this now? If you have nothing to say just shut up, I didn't bring you along to be an annoying hag!''

''Fuck you!''

Amari suddenly stops to look around.

''What? What's going on?''

''Can you fight in the dark?''

''No, obviously not!''

''Nana once told me that people learn something every day, and today it's a chance for you to learn something.''

''Why are you saying that?''

''We're about to enter a predator's habitat.''

The wolf howls sound closer now.

''SHIIT!!! That gave me chills.''

''We should start moving.''

After taking their first step the aura around them suddenly changed, Amari jumps off Amari's back.

''If you're going to jump off, you should hold my hand.''

''No... thank you.''

''What?''

''I'm not holding your hand.''

''How are you going to know where I'm going? Just hold my hand!''

''The fuck I am. I'll just put my hand on your shoulder.''

''That'll slow us down.''

''I don't care, I'm not holding your hand.''

Amari sighs and allows him to have his hand on one shoulder. Amari hears a large anaconda coming from a distance. The anaconda is coming to their direction, Amari doesn't want alert Apollo because he thinks that he'll panic.

He changes the direction and starts moving faster but the anaconda follows them, it gets closer and closer. Amari predents to not notice it and walks faster.

''Hey, why are you walking so fast?''

''Move.'' he whispers.

''What?''

As its about to bite Apollo's leg Amari repeats louder and faster.

''Move!''

He pushes Apollo and he falls over to the side and the anaconda barely misses him. While its mouth was closed Amari swiftly grabs its mouth and surrounds its big mouth with his one arm and grabs the neck with the other arm and twists it in opposite directions. 

Blood starts spilling on Amari's face, and it starts hissing in pain. Apollo can't see what's going on but he still is in shock.

''Amari! Amari! What's going on?!''

''Shhh... you're alerting the others.''

Hyena laughs come from different direction and they're all coming towards the smell of the snake blood. Amari grabs Apollo's hand and he starts running and jumps inside a big bush to hide from them. Around twelve hyenas come out of nowhere and they're all running to the snake's corpse.

After all of them surrounded the corpse, Amari drags Apollo out the bush and they start running. One of the hyenas stops eating and smells the blood of the snake from somewhere else and starts running that direction.

''Run faster!! They're coming!!''

They both run faster. After finishing their snake meal, the other hyenas also follow the scent of the snake. The hyena that ran first was getting closer and closer to the two boys. Amari stops, then pushes Apollo behind a bush and gets ready to fight. 

He takes a deep breath, closes his eyes and stands prepared for the what's coming for him. The hyena runs to him in full speed and when it was in range it opens its mouth and jumps towards Amari. Apollo hides behind a big tree to avoid it. 

Amari dodges it by jumping and rolling to the side. He responds with an attack of his own by jumping towards it with a punch and lands it on the hyenas' neck, which causes damage.

The hyena starts laughing, and slowly starts circling around Amari. Amari follows its eyes, and it starts showing him its teeth, drool comes out of its mouth as it patiently waits for the right moment to attack.

The other hyenas start getting closer and this causes Amari to leave the eye contact with the one in front of him and focus on Apollo's safety. The hyena takes the oppertunity for it to attack while he is focused else where, but Amari counters its attack with a jaw breaking round house kick.

The kick causes the hyena's face to rotate while it's on its neck and drop on the floor. Amari hurries to Apollo and hands him a long wooden staff.

''Apollo! Apollo! More are coming!! here's a staff and use it to guide you of here.''

''No!! I'll stay. I want to fight!''

''Did you forget you can't see?''

''I'll use my ears then, I don't care.''

''We don't have the time to argue! just don't die.''

They stand ready next to each other and prepare for the pack of hyenas running in a full sprint to them. Apollo hears them coming closer and he starts sweating and shaking.

''Amari... I don't want to die.''

''We aren't planning to.''
