Chapter 5 If the owl doesn’t come soon, I will send a Howler to Dumbledore

As time passed day by day, and the month of July got closer and closer, Andy's originally calm heart gradually became a little restless.

As soon as he received his acceptance letter from Hogwarts, Andy would be able to have a wand of his own and learn and cast his first real magic.

So...

"When the hell will that bloody owl come, huh?"

On the first day of July, Andy was lying on the windowsill with his hands on his chin, staring up at the azure sky and resisting the urge to write a Howler to Dumbledore.

The Headmaster shouldn't be too busy now since the students are on holiday, right?

"Don't waste your time Andy, maybe your name isn't even in the Book of Admittance."

A certain little carrot stood behind Andy, gloating as she ate her pudding, "Maybe you're a Squib!"

"Even eating can't stop you from talking."

Andy said in a good-natured manner, then said thoughtfully, "Speaking of which, Isa, it seems like you haven't experienced a magic riot yet, right?"

Isabel: "..."

"Heh!"

Andy spread his hands and laughed lightly, "Speaking of which, I was six years old when I experienced a magic riot, someone might better worry about themselves instead of worrying about me."

The little lass was a bit autistic, even the pudding in her hand didn't feel like it would taste good anymore.

Hmph! Still want to fight me?

As time moved into July, Andy was getting more and more anxious, even Kyle and Helen were getting a little bit restless.

"Don't worry, son, Hogwarts acceptance letters usually only arrive in late July," Kyle reassured.

"Don't you usually practice casting magic on your own? Since you're not a Squib, Hogwarts will definitely send you an acceptance letter." Helen also comforted a few words during the meal.

It was no longer possible not to complain about it, Andy had been a bit restless lately. If it wasn't for Kyle's dead weight blocking him this morning, Andy's Howler would have been delivered to Dumbledore's desk.

Why don't you send Voldemort a Howler if you're so awesome?

"I'm not worried about the acceptance letter, I'm trying to get my wand early." Andy cupped his right cheek and teared up a bit.

Kyle cupped his chin and said, "If you really want to learn magic early, you can try it with my wand."

"Really?" Andy stood up excitedly.

"Don't even think about it!"

Helen blankly glanced at Kyle without any goodwill, and said in a suggestive tone, "It's good to make him a bit anxious, this kid is usually too quiet, it's rare to see him having emotional ups and downs."

Andy: "?"

"That's good." Kyle agreed.

On the 15th of July, the owl from Hogwarts finally flew to St. Catchpole Village and flew through the window into Andy's bedroom.

The owl flew in a circle in the bedroom, after which it landed firmly on the desk and lifted its leg to indicate that Andy could take the mail, but its eyes kept focusing on a small bag next to the desk - it was Andy's small biscuits that he hadn't finished eating last night.

"Heh! Good eye."

Knowing the owl's rules, Andy took a few biscuits for it as a reward before taking the letter off.

Seeing that the letter was none other than the acceptance letter from Hogwarts, Andy attached the long-written reply letter on the owl's leg and signalled it to hurry back once it had finished eating.

Thud!

Running all the way downstairs, Andy said impatiently to Helen with the letter in his hand, "Mum, the acceptance letter has arrived, so can we go and buy a wand?"

Andy had already read over the contents of the acceptance letter, and it was only when he actually received the letter that Andy could feel how thrilled he really was.

This is magic!

"I see, well... Kyle's gone to work and Isa's all alone at home with no one to look after her, why don't we wait until the weekend?" Helen's expression was a little mischievous.

"We could take Isa with us..."

Before Andy could finish his sentence, Isabel crossed her arms and said in a firm tone, "I don't want to go to Diagon Alley!"

????

Don't you usually look forward to going to Diagon Alley the most?

"We can send Isa to the Weasley's..."

Halfway through his sentence, Andy suddenly reacted, the two of them had teamed up to tease him.

"Stop it, let's pack up and go!" Andy did not feel like going along with teasing at the moment.

"Hehe, it's been a long time since I've seen you acting like a little kid."

Helen shook her head with some regret, then took out her wand and pointed it at her body, the original housedress instantly turned into a set of blue wizard robe.

"I'm changed, Isa, go back and change, or I won't take you there."

Isabel looked at Andy, who had changed his clothes long ago, and grunted with a puffed-up face, "You two are too sneaky!"

Passing through the fireplace to Diagon Alley, Helen took Isabel's hand and said to Andy with a sidelong glance, "Leave the other stuff to me, and get your own wand and clothes."

Helen never had any worries when it came to Andy.

"Got it, Mum."

Andy had been to Diagon Alley many times and knew the place like the back of his hand.

The first time he came, it was very exciting, and the second and third time he still had the interest to wander around a bit. But after coming more often, he realised that there wasn't really much to wander around here, apart from the fact that the magic was more magical.

Diagon Alley was no bigger than a larger pedestrian street in the Muggle world.

Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C.

Andy pushed the door and walked in.

"Mr Ollivander, I'm here to buy a wand."

The shop was small, with nothing but a counter and a bench, and thousands of narrow boxes stacked up all over the space.

Ollivander popped his head out from behind one of the shelves, his very light-coloured eyes looking bright, "Good morning Mr. Collins, looks like you're finally old enough to go to school."

"Yeah, yeah!" Andy looked smug.

Two years ago, Andy had tried to sneak in to buy a wand with the pocket money he had managed to save, only to be turned down by this awful old man.

Hateful!

"It's the right-hand, right? Lift your arm up." Ollivander obviously had a good memory.

Andy raised his right arm and a tape measure automatically flew up, measuring Andy's entire body from top to bottom, both inner and outer arm.

"Each of Ollivander's wands is superbly magical in nature, and that is the essence of what they are. We make our wands from different materials, just as there are no two wizards in the world who are exactly the same, so each wand has a different individuality."

Saying this, Ollivander's tone suddenly became much more serious, "Remember, it is the wand that chooses the wizard."

"..."

Andy didn't say anything about this, as he didn't want to comment anything on someone else's area of expertise.

"Try this one, Pine Wood, with a Phoenix Tail Feather as the core - Thirteen and a half inches."

Andy took the wand.

For a moment, Andy seemed to feel as if he had become one with the wand, and could even feel the wand in his hand conveying an emotion called 'excitement' to him.

Andy waved the wand.

The tip of the wand instantly blossomed with a gorgeous lustre, and the originally gloomy room seemed to become much brighter.
