Chapter 198: Raiden Shogun: “I… caught a cold?”

Chapter 198: Raiden Shogun: "I… caught a cold?"

The day was bright and sunny, with a gentle breeze—a picture-perfect weather.

Kong, dressed in the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy uniform, walked alongside a figure clad in purple—Raiden Shogun.

Her signature braid had been replaced by a high ponytail, tied with a purple ribbon. She was wearing a newly designed outfit obtained from Shui Ningshuang of Tianshui Academy.

Speaking of Tianshui Academy, it truly lived up to its reputation as a gathering place for beauties who put immense effort into crafting more "fashionable" clothing.

Currently, most noble and Soul Master outfits were overly elaborate—either designed with some defensive utility or tailored for formal etiquette.

That said, simpler dresses did exist, though they were quite rare.

Tianshui Academy's approach leaned toward practical yet elegant attire, like casual dresses. Moreover, Shui Ningshuang had even crafted exquisite ice silkworm stockings, which were both beautiful and flattering, enhancing the overall look of the legs...

While ice silkworm silk was rare, substitutes like spider silk could be used to achieve a similar effect. Additionally, they experimented with different colors to match various outfits.

At this moment, Raiden Shogun wore black "ice silkworm stockings." As for her footwear, she still wore the same pair of wooden sandals she seemed particularly fond of. Despite wearing them for a long time, they showed no signs of wear.

"The atmosphere of an academy… This is my first time experiencing it. If Inazuma had an academy in the past, my predecessor's work would have been much easier," Raiden Shogun remarked, glancing sideways with her arms crossed. Two lightning Slimes hovered close, ready to spring forth.

Her comment was both a casual reflection and a truthful observation.

Inazuma's traditions had largely been personally established by Ei and Makoto. If an academy had existed, they wouldn't have had to shoulder so much burden.

Regrettably, the idea hadn't occurred to them back then.

"If there's ever a chance to return to Teyvat, you could establish an academy in Inazuma," Kong suggested, smiling. "Not for anything overly complex like advanced science or literature. I could even share study resources—maybe something like 'Five-Year Simulations, Six-Year Exams.' And the most important part—exams! If they don't pass…"

"Heh…"

Kong almost burst out laughing but managed to hold it in, letting out a single "heh" to express his amusement.

Inazuman citizens: "..."

Liyue and Inazuma were quite different. Liyue already had private schools, which were akin to academies, albeit smaller in scale.

Inazuma, too, had private schools, though they were far less formal, often relying on lineage and tradition.

"Kong seems to be thinking about something… strange. Oddly enough, even though you mean well for Inazuma's people, I can't help but feel a chill," Raiden Shogun said, giving him a puzzled glance.

Kong's lips twitched. Was he that obvious?

"Shogun, my dear wife, it must've been the breeze earlier. You caught a cold," Kong replied, his expression unchanging.

Without missing a beat, he retrieved a piece of clothing from his storage Soul Tool and draped it over Raiden Shogun.

"I… caught a cold?"

Raiden Shogun paused, looking at Kong in confusion. Could she even catch a cold?

Yet, as she felt the warmth of Kong's embrace and the additional layer of clothing, she did feel… warmer. Perhaps she really had caught a cold.

To the members of Heaven Dou Imperial Academy, Raiden Shogun (or Ei) was already a familiar presence. She wasn't part of the academy but was recognized as the wife of Kong—their monstrous genius.

Despite her stunning beauty, not a single young noble dared to approach her for greetings or provocations.

Young nobles typically carried themselves with elegance and decorum, adorned with fine jewelry and enjoying their families' favor. Without such innate advantages, how could they even qualify as nobles?

But now, when it came to these so-called nobles... Well, they were reduced to petty brats.

Kong: "???"

"Shogun, Raiden…"

At this moment, Dugu Yan approached, her expression a mix of uncertainty as she studied the person before her. Was this Raiden Shogun or Raiden Ei?

For this particular matter, Dugu Yan could only offer a helpless smile. She didn't dwell on it too much—her feelings for Kong were clear: she liked him, cared about what he cared for, and thought about what he thought about.

"Raiden Shogun," came the indifferent reply from Raiden Shogun. Her tone was naturally aloof, but Dugu Yan, having grown accustomed to it, didn't feel anything unusual.

"Sister Yan," Kong said, giving Dugu Yan a curious glance. Wasn't she out shopping with Ye Lingling? Why was she back so soon?

"Where are you two headed? Mind if I tag along?" Dugu Yan asked.

"Aren't you supposed to be out with Ye Lingling?" Kong and Dugu Yan spoke almost simultaneously, exchanging surprised looks afterward.

"Lingling went home. She seemed to have something to take care of, so I came back," Dugu Yan replied casually without much thought.

It was true—Ye Lingling had returned to the Ye family, though it didn't seem to be for anything urgent, likely just minor matters.

"No problem, join us! The Shogun and I were just planning to visit Heaven Dou City to buy some ingredients for making desserts," Kong said.

Although Kong would sometimes buy ready-made desserts for Raiden Shogun and Raiden Ei, the ones they made themselves didn't taste as good as the ones Kong prepared. Naturally, he preferred to personally make treats for his wives.

Even though they didn't necessarily need to eat, he enjoyed doing it for them.

"Buying ingredients for desserts?" Dugu Yan paused for a moment, then nodded. She remembered meeting Raiden Ei in Soto City before and how much she loved desserts—rock sugar-coated hawthorn, colorful rice balls, milk tea dumplings, and the like.

Kong buying these ingredients? He must be planning to make desserts personally for Raiden Shogun (or Ei).

Just imagining it made Dugu Yan think Kong was wonderful. The only uncomfortable part was that the desserts weren't being made for her specifically.

The trio made their way to Heaven Dou City without incident. The journey from Heaven Dou Imperial Academy to the city took about half an hour on foot.

Upon arrival, Heaven Dou City was clearly more bustling than usual. People filled the streets, many dressed in distinct clothing that indicated they were from other regions. It was obvious—they had traveled from afar to attend a grand event.

The Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, held every five years, was a spectacular gathering where the most talented youths from all over the continent showcased their skills.

Participants from distant academies had already settled in Heaven Dou City, knowing from past tournaments that arriving late could mean struggling to find accommodations.

Even participants from nearby academies had arrived early, ostensibly to prepare. Gathering intelligence on their competitors was part of their strategy.

After all, how many participants could resist testing their strength by engaging in a few battles at the Spirit Arena upon arriving in Heaven Dou City?

This gave intelligence gatherers the perfect opportunity.

A Soul Master's spirit abilities were critical pieces of information. In most cases, competitors would try to keep them hidden…
