Chapter 32: 6 months later

Over the course of these six months, nothing particularly noteworthy occurred, except for a breakthrough I experienced with the Frost Death Knight book. To say I was right about its contents would be an understatement. Within its pages, I discovered every skill I had learned from the system, along with a few others presented in arcane magical formulas.

Thanks to my diligent study and the amalgamation of knowledge from both my previous and current body's schooling days, I found myself able to decipher these formulas to some extent. Who would have thought that basic physics would prove useful for understanding magic?

Though I must admit, it requires a daunting level of concentration to even execute the basic [Frost Strike], and even then, it doesn't measure up to the level 1 version. However, I've been making progress, particularly with the incorporation of hand gestures. Still, I realize I'll have to abandon this practice; I'm not keen on getting punched while performing Ginyu Force poses just to cast a simple [Frost Strike].

As for my claim that nothing interesting happened, it was a lie. I encountered several groups of survivors during this time—some large, some small—a promising sign of human resilience. However, with the increase in humans came an uptick in nefarious individuals. I found myself engaged in skirmishes with bands of bandits, ultimately wiping them out and rescuing the grateful survivors they preyed upon. Despite their gratitude and offers to share the spoils, I declined, knowing cans of food wouldn't serve me much purpose.

The flash blizzards seem to be growing more frequent, and it's becoming a real nuisance. There have been times when I'd be deep in study within my Mindscape, only to emerge and find myself buried beneath a fresh blanket of snow. However, amidst the inconvenience, there's a silver lining.

The frequent snowfalls are revitalizing the earth. As the snow melts, it turns into a welcome supply of water for the dry and desolate land. This infusion of moisture is making it possible for life to take root and thrive in these once-barren lands, offering a glimmer of hope for the future.

Despite the positive effects of the frequent snowfall, it wasn't all good news. There were occasions where I encountered groups of people injured by the hail, a stark reminder of the dangers posed by the erratic weather patterns.

Curiosity piqued, I embarked on a quest to uncover the source of these unusual weather phenomena. Thanks to my studies in magic, I had developed the ability to sense magical energies, albeit not very adeptly. However, I soon discovered that I didn't even need this ability, as every time the blizzard struck, I could feel a surge of mana—a source far stronger than my own—emanating from the west, as if beckoning me to investigate further.

Sadly I couldn't catch up to the source as it seemed to be on the move and I could only sense it whenever it is causing the blizzard and when ever it does I find myself going into eh wrong direction or so far away that when ever I arrive near where I sense it I find the source already two cities over something that drove to frustration as I soon gave up on the idea of catching the source and focus on magic training.
