Jace shook his head in disbelief. "You're pathetic, Trent."

"Yeah, pathetically important," Trent retorted.

"I'm sure you didn't ask me here just to tell me how pathetic I am or to make me change my mind, because that will never happen."

The air was thick with tension as Jace paced the sparsely furnished consultation room while Trent lounged on the leather sofa, a smug grin on his face as he rolled his key on his finger. 

The contrast between their moods couldn't have been starker. 

Jace's mind raced, seeking any possible solution to the impossible situation Trent had created.

"Alright, Trent," Jace began, stopping his pacing to face his cousin. "Let's make a deal."

"That's interesting. And what deal can the almighty Jace Brandon make with me? Do you intend giving me one of your companies in exchange for your son's delectable nanny?" he taunted.
