Because Lu Jiang was injured, and Feng Qingyun was staying at her aunt's house, they first returned to the Wanglou Brigade.
Feng Qingxue had visited the Lu family's new house several times after it was built whilst delivering food to Lu's father. Seeing it now, she was still greatly satisfied.
The main house, made of clay brick, sat facing south. It was quite expansive with a reception room in the middle and two bedrooms on the east and west. Unlike other homes with no partitions, this house had walls made of bricks, with a door in each room about the height of a person.
On the outside, there were two rooms on either side with no partitions. The walls, too, were made of clay bricks, topped with thatched roofs. These served as places both for hosting guests and storing grain.
