Chapter 1Chapter 1 Unfamiliar Place

Kyra POV

I huddled myself in a small cave, my eyes fixed on the downpour outside. The rain was relentless, sheets of water cascading from the heavens. I couldn't quite grasp how I had ended up here.

When I was driving home, my car broke down. While walking back home, I somehow ended up here.

I don't know where I was but the trees loomed larger than life, their trunks thicker and their branches more sprawling than any I had ever seen. It was as if I had stumbled into a rainforest, the foliage so dense it seemed to swallow up any hint of light. A tremor of fear ran through me. I was alone in an unknown place, with only the sound of the storm to keep me company.

Despite my efforts to remain calm, fear gnawed at me. I tried to steady my breathing, reminding myself that the rain would eventually stop. When it did, I would venture out to find a road and make my way home. But as the environment darkened, my fear grew. I prided myself on being strong, but in such unfamiliar surroundings, even the bravest could falter.

My heart pounded against my ribcage, each beat echoing in the cavernous space. The cold seeped into my bones, my wet clothes clinging uncomfortably to my skin. I hugged my knees tightly, resting my head on them in a bid for warmth and comfort. Sleep eluded me, the cold and fear keeping me wide awake.

I lifted my head, scanning the cave once more. The darkness was oppressive, broken only by the occasional flash of lightning illuminating the torrential rain. I felt a knot of fear tighten in my stomach. My head throbbed with a headache, a dull ache that made me long for the comfort of my own home, a warm bed, and a cozy blanket.

Suddenly, a growl pierced the silence. My breath hitched, and I curled into myself even more. In the pitch-black darkness, the sound of footsteps approached. My body stiffened, and I felt a rush of cold fear. I was sure I was about to face something dreadful.

"Growl..."

"Growl..."

Summoning the courage to peek, I opened one eye, my gaze meeting a pair of ocean-blue eyes. I froze, staring at the creature before me

"Wolf..." I muttered as a pure silver white wolf, its fur drenched from the rain, stood there, head tilted in curiosity.

The wolf shook its body, sending droplets of water flying. I watched, captivated and terrified at once.

its thick fur gleaming in the dim light. After shaking off the rain, the wolf took a step closer, its eyes never leaving mine.

My mind raced. I had always considered myself strong, but here, faced with a wild creature in the dead of night, I felt utterly vulnerable. I didn't know what to expect from the wolf. Was it dangerous? Off course it was.

The wolf took another step closer, then another. My breath came in shallow gasps, my heart racing.

Was it you that night?

On the eve of their wedding, Yan Changsheng brought back a girl and publicly called off the marriage. Only then did Shen Qinghe realize that Yan Changsheng was the crazy male lead from a book, and the girl was the irresistible female protagonist. As for her, she was just early cannon fodder fated to die, and her elder sister was the malevolent female supporting character whom everyone wanted to beat up. Tsk, the plot is just freaking ridiculous! After awakening, Shen Qinghe busied herself with cultivation, protecting her elder sister. Yet, unknowingly seizing the female protagonist's luck, she attracted several crazy male leads, each of them forcibly taking what they wanted from her. She thought Dongfang Wuya was relatively normal, but who knew he was crazier, actually seizing the position of Heavenly Emperor and then forcibly marrying her to become the Heavenly Empress! ** As the high and mighty belle of the cultivation world, Dongfang Wuya had countless admirers and fans. Yet he was devoted to cultivation, treating love as if it were dirt. Initially thinking Shen Qinghe was deeply in love with him, he sternly advised her, "Focus on your cultivation, do not get distracted by romantic entanglements!" Later, irked by her dedication to cultivation, he pressed her into his arms and kissed her, seductively coaxing with a playful smile, "Be my Daoist companion, and I'll aid you in cultivation, hmm?" When the certain darkness threatens to take Oriana away, will the Dragon be able to protect his mate? ----- Excerpt- “If I knew you were my betrothed, I would have killed you the very first moment we met." Arlan's gaze darkened with hatred. “If I knew I was betrothed to you, I would have killed myself before you even killed me!” Oriana mirrored the same emotions as him. He pulled out a dagger and offered it to her. “It’s not too late. Just slit your throat with this and you'll bleed out painlessly.” She accepted the knife, her fingers clutching its handle tightly. The next moment, he was pressed against the wall and the knife was on the right side of his neck. “How about I try it on you first, my betrothed?” “Feel free to try. But when you fail, this knife will first taste your grandpa's blood, then yours.” Anger rose in her eyes, and the next moment, blood was flowing through the right side of his neck. She cut deep enough to severe an important blood vessel. “You should not have challenged me,” she sneered and stepped back, waiting for him to collapse. He simply smirked and brushed his finger along the deep wound on his neck. “Seems like you failed.” She watched the wound on his neck heal on its own and felt shocked to her bones. “You.. what are you?” “Guess?” ----- Instagram- mynovel.20 Facebook- Author mynoveltwenty
