Chapter 279: Is Obito a Training Maniac?

Shisui's performance shocked the Uchiha present.

Hearing others say that Shisui was a genius who learned Ninjutsu quickly, and then seeing with their own eyes how Shisui, who wasn't even seven years old yet, defeated a Chunin, were two completely different levels of impact.

In the Uchiha clan, not just anyone can be called a genius, as they have too many excellent ninjas. Because of this, there is a common perception outside that at least within the Uchiha, no one performs poorly. This is why the mediocre Obito is often referred to as the Uchiha's weakest.

Shisui's displayed strength made all the Uchiha present believe that Shisui was a genius among geniuses.

"Shisui, you're already so strong, why haven't you graduated yet? The sensei at the school can no longer teach you anything useful," Uchiha Chihiro asked, voicing a question that had been bothering him greatly.

If Shisui were a Genin, he would have been more cautious because of Obito's battle.

The other Uchiha also looked at Shisui with curiosity after hearing Uchiha Chihiro's words. They were also curious why someone with Shisui's strength was still staying at the Academy to study.

"Graduating early would give you more freedom to manage your time and you could also join the police force to contribute to the clan," Uchiha Chihiro said, listing the benefits of graduating and becoming a ninja.

He truly believed that with Shisui's current strength, staying at the Academy was a waste of time.

"I think there are still some things I need to learn at school. After all, I'm only in my first year, and combat isn't everything for a ninja," Shisui thought for a moment and then answered.

He had originally planned to graduate after his first year, but after consulting Mutsuki's opinion, he changed his mind.

"What's so great about learning theoretical knowledge? Strength is the most important thing. If you had the power of the God of Shinobi, Senju Hashirama, you could become Hokage even without mastering any knowledge," Uchiha Chihiro said with a pained expression, trying to persuade him.

He couldn't bear to see a genius like Shisui go astray, wasting time at the Academy learning that knowledge instead of focusing on strengthening his abilities.

"Chihiro is right, Shisui. You don't need to focus too much on those theoretical classes. Even if you learn them, they won't be of much use. Powerful Ninjutsu and Taijutsu are the true path," Uchiha Gisho agreed, nodding.

Uchiha Gisho had never cared much for those so-called theoretical classes during school. He only paid attention during lessons and never wasted time on theoretical knowledge outside of class. He felt those courses were meaningless—knowing history wouldn't change anything, and mastering complicated mathematics wouldn't make his Ninjutsu any stronger.

"Because I think just increasing strength won't save the Uchiha," Shisui wanted to say this, hoping to encourage everyone to learn more and gain wisdom. But Shisui knew this wasn't realistic, as he was just a Uchiha genius, not a Uchiha powerhouse. Saying something like that wouldn't earn him recognition; it would only make him seem strange.

"As long as studying at the Academy doesn't hinder my strength growth," Shisui thought for a moment and explained.

Shisui's words left Uchiha Chihiro and Uchiha Gisho unable to argue because Shisui was currently attending the Academy and was still able to defeat a Chunin.

The effect of displaying his innate talent and strength was immediate; suddenly, many people started coming to Shisui to engage in conversation. While answering questions about training, Shisui also took the opportunity to ask the questions he wanted to understand.

"Strange looks from others when walking down the street? Who cares what they think? They're probably just jealous of the Uchiha's strength," one Uchiha replied nonchalantly.

"After all, we are the most powerful clan in Konoha."

This answer left Shisui speechless, but he noted it down in his mind.

"How do you get along with team members after splitting into squads? Shisui, are you worried you won't be able to get along well with your teammates?" The second Uchiha smiled.

"No one would dislike a strong teammate. Just be yourself, and if you encounter someone you don't like, just ignore them."

Shisui nodded; this clansman seemed reasonable.

The third person Shisui spoke with was Uchiha Inabi. Shisui asked him, "Inabi-san, could you tell me about the work of the police force?"

As a department fully controlled by the Uchiha, the affairs of the police force are essentially the affairs of the Uchiha.

"The work of the police force mainly involves maintaining the village's public order and arresting those who violate the rules," Uchiha Inabi said after thinking for a moment.

Feeling that his explanation might have been too brief, Uchiha Inabi gave Shisui a few examples: setting up stalls in unauthorized areas, street brawls, and capturing murderers who harm villagers—these all fall under their jurisdiction.

Shisui nodded, feeling that the current situation of the Uchiha clan was indeed closely related to the police force.

As the meeting concluded, Obito and Shisui were called over by Uchiha Fugaku and Uchiha Yashiro.

"Uncle Fugaku, is there something else?" Shisui, who was relatively familiar with Uchiha Fugaku, asked directly. He was eager to go home, organize all the information, and then head over to Mutsuki for training.

Uchiha Fugaku smiled and, after signaling them to sit down, began speaking, "Nothing much, I just wanted to have a chat with you."

"Shisui, when are you planning to graduate and become a ninja?" Uchiha Fugaku asked.

The Academy has a special early graduation exam, which is more difficult than the regular graduation test, designed for geniuses like Shisui. So in Fugaku's eyes, Shisui can become a ninja whenever he chooses.

Shisui responded to Fugaku with the same answer he had given Uchiha Chihiro.

"I see. Given your current age, staying at the Academy a bit longer isn't a problem," Uchiha Fugaku smiled and nodded, not disagreeing with Shisui's decision.

"Shisui, you possess extraordinary ninja talent. In my opinion, your abilities surpass even those of Kagami-san. When I saw you fighting just now, I couldn't help but recall the spirited appearance of Kagami-san," Uchiha Fugaku praised.

Fugaku's words reinforced Shisui's determination to complete what his grandfather could not.

"Uncle Yashiro, are we going to learn advanced Fire Release Ninjutsu?" Obito asked eagerly, looking at Uchiha Yashiro.

He attended the gathering mainly for the rewards.

Seeing Obito's straightforward expression, Uchiha Yashiro couldn't help but smile. It was the first time someone had directly asked him for advanced Fire Release techniques.

"A genius like you won't be denied by the clan. Of course, there will be Fire Release Ninjutsu for you," Uchiha Yashiro said with a smile. "I'm glad you've taken my words to heart—keep up the hard work and continue progressing."

Obito scratched his head, trying to recall what Uchiha Yashiro had said to him but couldn't remember anything specific.

"Oh well, let's get that Fire Release Ninjutsu first," Obito thought, nodding seriously to avoid jeopardizing the reward.

"With your current strength, passing the Chunin exam won't be a problem. You should aim to become a Chunin soon. Once you do, the clan can directly assign you to the police force after you apply," Uchiha Yashiro continued.

Given Obito's current abilities, passing the Chunin exam and becoming a Chunin would be the quickest way to join the police force.

"Then, you can learn from many of our clan members, and I'll teach you all the Fire Release techniques I know," Uchiha Yashiro added, highlighting the benefits of joining the police force.

"I don't want to join the police force. I prefer taking on missions outside the village, even abroad," Obito said, shaking his head. Becoming a Chunin was not an issue for him, but he had no desire to join the police force.

Uchiha Yashiro was taken aback. It was the first time he'd seen a Uchiha refuse his invitation to the police force.

Uchiha Yashiro then explained some of the benefits of the police force: all colleagues are clan members, the promotion path is smooth, and it comes with significant power.

Listening to Uchiha Yashiro's complicated explanations made Obito's head spin. He quickly expressed that he was currently only interested in improving his strength and shifted the conversation back to Ninjutsu.

"So, you're the type who's deeply dedicated to training," Uchiha Yashiro thought, guessing at Obito's personality. He decided not to press the issue of the police force any further.

Whether or not Obito joined the police force, he would always be a ninja of the Uchiha Clan, and that wouldn't change.

"How about Great Dragon Fire Jutsu? It's well-suited to your current level," Uchiha Yashiro suggested after thinking for a moment.

"Oh, I already know Great Dragon Fire Jutsu. Is there another Ninjutsu?" Obito hoped for something different.

Uchiha Yashiro fell into deep thought. While there were advanced Fire Release Ninjutsu techniques available, they weren't suitable for Obito just yet.

"I'll need to think about it. Once the reward is decided, I'll send it to your house," Uchiha Yashiro said, planning to discuss it with Uchiha Fugaku first.

Obito nodded. Although he didn't know what the Ninjutsu would be, at least he had secured a reward.

Since Shisui needed to organize some information, Obito headed alone to the Southern Forest to train. The thought of Kakashi training for several hours while he attended the gathering made Obito quicken his pace.

When Obito saw Kakashi practicing Total Concentration Breathing, he immediately joined in. They trained until lunchtime before taking a break to eat.

"I have something to do later, so you'll need to continue training on your own," Mutsuki said.

Chen-sensei had scheduled a meeting with him for 2 p.m., and it was almost time.

"Is it related to the Academy?" Obito asked curiously, knowing that the Academy would be starting soon.

"No, it's to meet with Chen-sensei," Mutsuki replied, shaking his head. He had assigned all the Academy-related tasks to his Shadow Clone.

"Chen-sensei? The same one who's Guy's instructor?" Obito recognized the name, as it had led to Kakashi teasing him for his lack of knowledge.

"Can I come along? I'd like to see what Konoha's strongest Taijutsu practitioner is like."

At that moment, Obito's imagination had already conjured up an image of a terrifyingly muscular man, standing two meters tall.

Mutsuki thought for a moment and then agreed. It wasn't a big deal.
