The Frontier Situation

Rylon Star System, Alaric Star Domain, Ruusor Star Sector, Frontier Star Segment, Chronus Expanse, - Lycurgos Starfort, Unkown period of time.

At the dojo that belonged to the Arsit Byrmellir, the elderly Asuryani Highborne dojo master was brewing tea for himself as he enjoyed some peace after his pseudo-student had left for the Star Mercenary work.

He didn't take students... almost never; the maximum he was doing was opening the dojo in search of powerful opponents to fight and to incorporate their martial arts into his own style.

This was a habit that he developed when he was severely injured more than seventy years ago and was left crippled. During that time, he created the dojo and trained his martial arts to the extreme, especially his swordsmanship to the realm beyond that of the Grandmaster.

He had more than enough time when his Psionic Powers were crippled, and he couldn't exert the power that he was once used to. For that, he needed to find something that would fill his time; during that time, his Psyker Abilities were almost zero to none.

Fortunately enough, twenty years ago, the current Lord Padishash-Marshall of the Eternal Imperium of Asurya obtained a very precious medicinal object that allowed him to mend his injuries and return to his previous power.

In the end, he wasn't one of the strongest Psykers within the known galaxies.

"Have you returned once again, Varanthar?"

Varathar Medes was one of the Bashar-Generals of the Eternal Imperium of Asurya and commander of the Lycurgos Starfort. Not only that, but he was also the person responsible for the defense of the entire Frontier Star Segment that was separating the Chronus Expanse from the Wildstar Region.

He was also an extremely powerful Psyker and Warrior at the same time, dual class.

"Yes, Grandmaster..."

Varathar Medes was a gentle-looking man, who had an almost boyish look, extremely handsome in a certain sense, with long blonde hair and azure blue eyes. He was also one of the youngest Bashar-Generals within the Eternal Imperium of Asurya.

"May I?"

Grandmaster Arsit Byrmellir just simply nodded his head as he levitated over another cup for tea as he finished the tea ceremony.

"Why are you here Varathar?"

Since Artis Byrmellir opened his dojo at the Lycurgos Starfort, Bashar-General Varathar Medes was pestering the elderly Grandmaster almost every single day.

"This time, I am here for something more severe, as I fear... several hours ago, we got the report that one of the Mind Flayer Fleets is heading toward the Chronus Expanse, and most probably, they are heading towards the borders of the Imperium, though we cannot be sure. I got orders from above, to ask Your Excellency to help in case the the Mind Flayers decide to intrude the borders of the Imperium, which is... obviously their target."

Hearing this, even the dojo master was growing serious, as he stopped the cup of tea.

Mind Flayers, also known as Illithids also known as Mind Rulers in certain galaxies, and sometimes referred to as Ghaik by the Githyanki, were sadistic aberrations feared by sentient creatures on many worlds across the multiverse due to their powerful psionic abilities.

Nobody really knew where they originated; they were only rumors of certain places, known simply as the Underdark. These alien entities sought to expand their dominion over all other lifeforms, controlling their minds to use them as obedient thralls.

They consumed their victim's very personalities by extracting and devouring their brains while they were still alive. Through this, they gained and developed tremendous Psionic Potential and were considered as one of the Extragalactic Scourges that devoured entire galaxies.

If they were luck to stumble on a weaker and less developed galaxy.

Fortunately for the others, the Mind Flayers were greatly divided species into enormous Fleets, where they inhabited the Worldships that had the size of entire smaller celestial bodies.

Each such Fleet was commanded by the Elder Brains, and beings with tremendous Psionic potential and power that was beyond the mortal understanding and standards. Such beings could destroy entire worlds, obliterate planets from existence, and cause the extinction of entire space-faring civilizations.

"Is this information confirmed?"

Even as powerful as Artis Byrmellir was, he was ceritnaly wary of the Mind Flayers, because depending on the concrete Mind Fleet, he could easily loose. Some of the Elder Brains were even far above his power. Hopefully, this one would be without a powerful Elder Brain.

"Yes as unfortunate it is... we are 100% that one of the Mind Fleets is heading towards our borders. The Imperial High Command has decided to bolster the defenses of the Frontier Star Segment, by sending several reserve Fleets."

As one of the Imperial Bashar-Generals Varathar Medes was also one of the most powerful people of the Eternal Imperium of Asurya, he wasn't confident facing the entire Mind Fleet alone.

If it was just ordinary Mind Fleet, smaller ones without the Elder Brains, then he wouldn't care much about the Mind Flayers.

But...

The ones with powerful Elder Brains were something that could be overcome by either someone of tremendous power or through a really world-ending type of weaponry.

"Tell the High Command that if it comes to it, I will personally participate in the fight. How long till the Mind Fleet arrives here?"

The one thing about the Mind Flayers was the fact that their Fleets were remarkably slow when traversing the space.

They were not the technologically most apt species; most of their technological development was towards their evolution, so they often neglected the technological side of things.

"A few months with the current speed they are traveling. The intelligence guys are thinking that this must be one of the lesser Fleets, just purely on their traveling speed. The greater Fleets have much higher technological capabilities..."

That was true; if that was the case, then the situation was much better, but the appearance could be deceiving. The Mind Flayers were tumors that were hopping from one galaxy to another; they were dangerous, and only Type 3 civilizations could fend them off.
