Hearing the polite question as well as the offer of the handsome teenager, Weiss who acted as the old janitor spoke, "I appreciate the offer, but I am already old. The future can be left to youths such as yourself."
"You only need to answer five of my questions. As long as you answer them, you might receive all of the boxes of food and medicines as well as a special reward but it depends on your luck."
Faced with the old janitor's reply, Kayden Flynn, the handsome teenager, didn't force the old janitor and instead, he decided to listen to the old janitor.
"I have no problems with that. I only need to answer five questions, right? So let's start."
'The old janitor should be a special event NPC since he stands out from the rest of the NPCs. And if he was a player, he would have hoarded all of these food and medicines.'
'Although, I can't disregard the possibility of the old janitor being a player with hidden intentions. It's also possible that the boxes of food and medicines are poisoned and only by giving it to other players would allow the old janitor to obtain a special reward of some sort.'
'Anyway, if that's the case, I can only determine it after answering the old janitor's questions. This death game isn't as simple as it looked on the surface so I need to be vigilant and cautious but at the same time, I can't be too cowardly to the point I would lose opportunities presented to me such as this one.'
With that thought in mind and after agreeing with the old janitor, Kayden waited for the old janitor's response.
Since Kayden agreed to answer his questions unlike in Tawagoto Inu's case, Weiss proceeded to ask the first question to Kayden.
"A trolley is heading towards five people. You can pull the lever to direct it to the other track, killing 1 person instead. What do you do?"
"Just to inform you, you can't do anything other than pulling the lever or doing nothing. Since you have no time to untie those six people from the track before the trolley arrives to run either five or one of them."
Faced with the old janitor's question, Kayden was taken aback. He didn't expect that the old janitor would ask a question that didn't have a definitive answer to it.
Since it had no definitive answer, Kayden knew that whether his answer was correct or not depended on the old janitor. If the old janitor didn't think his answer was correct, then his answer wasn't correct.
Faced with that dilemma, Kayden gritted his teeth and decided to answer, "I will pull the lever to sacrifice the life of one person for the other five."
"Although I can do nothing and prevent my hands from being stained with blood by indirectly killing the other person, I am not such a coward. I might not be qualified to judge the value of a person's life, but assuming that all six of them have the same value, then the life of the five people combined is greater than one person."
After Kayden answered and gave the reason for his answer, Weiss replied, "If interpreting the question that way can make you feel better, then go ahead. Either way, I won't say whether you answered my questions correctly or not until all five questions are answered."
"If you don't mind, I can proceed with the second question."
In response, Kayden nodded, "Go ahead. I'm prepared to answer all five questions."
Since Kayden didn't disagree, Weiss continued with the second question, "If killing people is wrong, then why do we kill people that kill people?"
Faced with that question, Kayden pondered for a while before answering, "We kill people that kill people to prevent them from killing more people."
After Kayden answered the second question, Weiss proceeded with the third question, "If you're trying to fail and you succeed, did you fail or did you succeed?"
At this point, Kayden no longer cared and just answered for the sake of answering, "I failed successfully."
'This old man must be senile and knows he is going to die so he is just messing with me.'
Although Weiss could guess Kayden's thoughts, he continued with the fourth question, "Which came first, the egg or the chicken?"
Faced with the old janitor's fourth question, Kayden thought, 'I knew it! This old man is messing with me!'
Regardless of his thoughts, Kayden still answered the old janitor's fourth question, "The egg came first since birds evolved from reptiles. So, the first bird should have hatched from an egg that was laid by a reptile that was similar to, but not quite, a bird itself."
After receiving Kayden's answer to the fourth question, Weiss asked the fifth question, "If a vampire bites a zombie, does the zombie become a vampire or does the vampire become a zombie?"
Wanting to be done with this shit, Kayden answered, "Depends on which is stronger, the vampire venom or the zombie virus. But since this is a zombie-apocalypse world, then I can say that a zombie bitten by a vampire will not turn into a vampire, but the vampire who bit the zombie will become a zombie."
Since he already answered all five questions, Kayden awaited the old janitor's response. His next course of action will be determined by whether the old janitor will stay true to his words or fool him.
After Kayden answered all five questions, Weiss who acted as the old school janitor took out a coin from his pocket and responded, "Since you answered all five questions, then I will flip this coin."
"If you can correctly guess on which side of this coin it will face when it lands on the ground, then you can obtain the boxes of food and medicines as well as a special reward."
