Hermione panicked as she watched Harry fall. Her instinct was to run onto the field to protect him, but the sudden rush of people made it impossible. The crowd surged, and she was almost knocked over.
She remembered her safety training from Muggle School: never go against the flow of people. She allowed herself to be carried by the panicked crowd, but she was being pushed backward in her effort to keep an eye on Harry.
Without seeing where she was going, Hermione tripped over a chair and fell. Instantly, several feet stomped on her.
Fear overwhelmed her. She knew the dangers of a stampede all too well. Lying on the ground, Hermione struggled to stand, but the continuous trampling made it impossible.
Despair filled her. She feared being trampled to death by her classmates. Just as she was about to give in, a strong force pulled her up and out of the crowd.
Hermione opened her eyes to see Ethan's serious face.
"Hermione! Are you hurt?" Ethan asked, his voice urgent.
"No! I'm not injured!" Hermione cried, tears streaming down her face from fear.
"That's good."
Ethan breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing Hermione squeezed in the distance had made his heart skip a beat.
"Hold my waist, Hermione!" he commanded.
Crying, Hermione obediently hugged Ethan's waist tightly, fixing herself to him.
The Dementors had reached the ground, sucking the happiness from the students indiscriminately. Their desperate cries for help made the crowd even more frantic.
Ethan shook his wrist, and his wand slipped into his hand. "Expecto Patronum!" he shouted, and a massive, bright silver griffin erupted from his wand, charging at the Dementors.
"All students and professors who know the Patronus Charm! Use the Patronus Charm together!" Ethan shouted to the surrounding people.
Many raised their wands in response, and soon, various Patronuses filled the sky: deer, rabbits, birds, and other creatures all working to drive away the Dementors. Dumbledore's silver phoenix soared above them all, its presence commanding and protective.
Hermione and Luna clung to Ethan's waist, watching him with awe. He looked like a god to them, controlling the griffin Patronus and protecting everyone.
Ethan's call to action and his visible efforts gave the crowd a sense of security, and the violent rush of people began to subside. Some individuals started to maintain order.
Ethan looked around, spotting little wizards still on the ground or dangerously swaying in the chaotic crowd. He knew he had to act quickly.
"Hold tight," Ethan instructed Hermione and Luna.
Both girls tightened their grip on Ethan. As he began to transform, layers of feathers grew over his body, and two large wings sprouted from his back. He had turned into a griffin.
Hermione looked at the transformed Ethan in amazement; it was her first time seeing him do this.
Now a griffin, Ethan called out twice to signal Hermione and Luna to hold on tight. They obediently climbed onto his back, grabbing his feathers and securing themselves.
Ethan flew up, gliding over the chaotic crowd. He hovered in the most crowded areas, flapping his wings to create space.
The little wizards stared at the griffin in surprise, initially fearful but soon recognizing Professor Ethan. Hermione and Luna helped by loudly reassuring their classmates from Ethan's back.
"Don't panic! It's Professor Ethan! He's here to help!" Hermione shouted, her voice carrying through the commotion.
The realization that their professor was the griffin helped calm the students. They began to follow instructions, allowing for a more orderly evacuation.
With Hermione and Luna safely on his back, Ethan continued to fly around, ensuring everyone was safe and no one was left behind. The combined efforts of the Patronuses and the staff helped to push the Dementors back, restoring some semblance of order.
The immediate danger had passed, but Ethan knew the Dementors' breach and the ensuing chaos would have lasting effects on the students and staff. He vowed to investigate and ensure such a terrifying event never happened again.
Hermione and Luna quickly understood Ethan's intention and shouted for their classmates to climb on top of the Griffin.
The students obeyed obediently, and it didn't take long for Ethan to be covered with little wizards.
Ethan fluttered his wings, took the little wizards to safety outside the Quidditch pitch, and put them all down.
Hermione and Luna didn't want to come down yet and wanted to help Ethan continue to protect their classmates, but Ethan's sharp tweets twice rejected them.
After this wave was delivered, Ethan soon delivered the next wave of students. With the lessons learned, the students obediently climbed onto the Griffin's body, and the turbulent flow of people finally eased a lot.
Many professors, senior students, and Quidditch players followed suit. Ethan saved his classmates.
They took all the brooms from the broom shed on the Quidditch pitch and took students who needed help off the pitch.
At this time, no one cared which house the person they rescued belonged to, and everyone was helping everyone to the best of their ability.
The members of the Slytherin team also flew up to help the students.
Malfoy had just rescued two people resting on the ground because they were too tired to help others.
At this moment, a senior Gryffindor asked him to borrow his broom to help his classmates.
Malfoy lent his broom without hesitation.
Before that, the Slytherin team's Nimbus 2001 broom had been Slytherin's top-secret weapon.
It has been stored in the most tightly protected cabinet in the Slytherin lounge, and only the Slytherin team and students can touch it.
And now, Malfoy lent him to a Gryffindor student without hesitation, and he didn't suspect that the Gryffindor student would deliberately damage his broom at this time.
The student didn't realize how much damage it would cause to the Slytherin team if the broom were broken at this time.
He took the broom and rode on it, hurried to save people.
Ethan had already delivered several batches of students. He was getting weaker by the minute. Griffin itself was not an animal of endurance.
Flying in the sky, Ethan suddenly felt a biting coldness, and then he realized that many dementors had surrounded him.
These dementors didn't mean to hurt Ethan's students on his back but stared at Ethan viciously and sucked.
Ethan felt a biting cold all over his body, and his eyes turned black, but he still insisted on flying toward the ground, trying to keep himself from fainting.
The flying and swaying Ethan finally reached the ground. He landed heavily and slid for dozens of meters, and the soil on the ground was plowed with a deep trace.
The little wizards on Ethan's back were safe and sound, and they climbed down and ran to safety.
Ethan looked at the students who were running away and sighed with relief. His eyes were blackened, and he was about to faint.
He slowly turned into a human form, and dementors gathered around him, greedily surrounding Ethan.
Suddenly, a silver rabbit jumped out, smashing a Dementor heavily.
Afterward, various patron saints, such as otters, crows, and fawns, bravely attacked the group of Dementors, driving them away from Ethan's surroundings.
With her wand raised, Luna stood before Ethan to block the Dementors for him with an expression of unprecedented determination.
That rabbit is Luna's patron saint. Standing beside her was Hermione, also working hard to drive away the dementors for Ethan. The Otter is her patron saint.
Around the two of them, there were also many junior wizards, all of whom Ethan had just rescued.
At this time, they all held up their wands and surrounded Ethan, protecting Ethan from being harmed by the Dementors.
Many little wizards couldn't cast the Patronus, and the tip of their staff could only emit a silver mist, but they still did not flinch and firmly protected Ethan.
"Go away! We're not afraid of you anymore!"
Before Ethan passed out, the last thing he heard was Colin Creevey's scream.
