Chapter 23: Hiruzen Vs Danzo I

Konoha is one of the 5 great hidden villages of the Shinobi world.

And right now it was experiencing a civil war.

It's light vs its darkness.

The will of fire vs the foundation called roots

If this was the Marvel universe.

It would be the Military vs SHIELD.

or the Avengers vs SHIELD?

anyway, we are getting out of topic.

No matter how grand you give a title to a war...

the result will always be the same.

People dying.

Konoha vs Root

It has been only been a few hours in the afternoon since Danzo's escape and rendezvous with his tools.

And only a few minutes since Danzo entered the now battlefield, followed by Hiruzen in but a few moments.

Their arrival brought a temporary stop to the chaos as the two groups regrouped.

"Danzo, This has gone too far even for you, Surrender!" Danzo looked at Hiruzen hatefully and replied.

"I can't believe it only took a newbie Chunin!"

"A nobody!"

"For you to move like this." Danzo shouted as if asking.

"I have tolerated you more than enough in the past. I should've tried to know more of what you did. But for you to end the boy's entire family on a whim because he doesn't want to join you."

"Was probably not the first time you crossed the line. I have turned a blind eye while Konoha suffered under your darkness when it's purpose was supposed to protect!"

Hiruzen chakra erupted!!!

Along with the pressure was his killing intent.

Surprising Konoha's Shinobis.

This chakra.

This power.

This pressure.

It was all coming from their Hokage.

"I, Hiruzen Sarutobi, will not let my Konoha bled any longer. I will no longer let them sacrifice themselves! If I am the one needed to be sacrificed, then so be it!"

"For the future of this village, I will put you down, Danzo Shimura!"

The konoha nins erupted in roar to support their Hokage's resolved.

Meanwhile in the other camp.

Danzo's subordinates were already prepared to sacrifice themselves to let Danzo escape.

But how can he?

When Hiruzen only has him in his eyes?

"Danzo-sama, please go ahead and escape we will hold them off as long as we can even at the cost of our lives. But you must escape"

"I know that." Danzo answered.

Fighting Konoha was never his dream.

None of this was never his intention.

All he ever wanted.

Was to become the Hokage.

If only.

If only he raised his hand at that moment when Tobirama-sensei asked.

Danzo cut off that thought and Osamu's face resurfaced.

'Its because of that boy.'

"Tell me, where is Osamu right now? What happened to the task I have given to Fu?"

"We didn't receive any report back, Lord Danzo. But we did receive news that Osamu was seen carried by Kakashi towards Konoha Hospital covered in blood."

"Is that so?"

"What are your orders?"

"Send a squad to dispose of him at all cost! I will make sure he's dispose of after having Hiruzen fooled he got me."

"Yes sir."

Was his subordinates reply as the other camp erupted in roars supporting their Hokage's resolve to put him down.

"Is that so? Then I hope he doesn't follow his family suddenly! Attack!" Danzo ordered as a squad stealthy went to the Konoha Hospital.

And then there was chaos.

5 different elements were thrown back in forth.

Blades cut down bodies in two.

Shurikens flew everywhere, sometimes hitting it intended target sometimes blocked or avoided.

Explosions rang and took lives of Shinobi both light and dark.

War is never a good thing.

But the most highlight of this battle was none other than Danzo vs Hiruzen.

Danzo currently have 9 eyes left on his right hand but that didn't stop him or made him afraid to face hiruzen.

They both charged at each other in an insane speed as fist met fist.

They started with a taijutsu match in the middle of the battlefield were weapons flew everywhere.

Small mistake and they might have shurikens or kunai imbedded on their bodies.

However both of them are war veterans, such a situation was something normal for them.

Soon Danzo held a kunai and so did Hiruzen as their blades hit, sparks flew around them.

They jumped from one destroyed building to building, ceiling and walls. Their fight was not something any of their forces can assist to join or they might just be a hindrance.

Hiruzen managed to land a kick towards Danzo sending him flying and pasted to a wall.

Danzo coughed up blood due to the force of the kick and the impact of hitting concrete.

"Fire style: Great Fireball Jutsu!" Hiruzen let out an overwhelming fireball covering the building itself, leaving now escape for Danzo even if he manage to jump away or evade, he won't make it in time.

So he didn't stop it and let it kill him.

As Hiruzen felt Danzo's presence vanish his senses flared up to immediately locate Danzo.

He turned around and saw Danzo already done with his hand seals...

"Wind style: Vacuum Bullets!!"

3 bullets made of air were casted and rushed towards Hiruzen.

With no time for hand seals, Hiruzen just simply placed his hands on the ground.

"Earth Style: Earth Wall Jutsu."

Just as the wind bullets were about to hit him, the ground rose protecting him from it.

Giving him chance to summon his Enma, he didn't chatter with the summon and immediately have it transformed into his staff and elongated pinning Danzo who didn't see it come out of the Earth Wall.

Hiruzen didn't relax and summon a giant shuriken!

Feeling Danzo appeared just a distance from him, he immediately jumped to the sky and sent the giant shuriken.

"Shuriken Kage Bunshin Jutsu!"

Danzo who already saw Hiruzen's figure was already condescending wind nature chakra on his short sword.

But seeing the rain of shurikens, he needed to change his strategy.

Weaving hand seals fast as he could to protect himself, he casted a ninjutsu.

"Fuuton: Wind Sphere!"

Almost similar to that Jutsu of the Hyuga clan, Danzo was enveloped with a sphere of wind protecting him from the rain of shurikens.

However, as soon as the attack passed and his Jutsu stopped, a staff swatted his head off clean!

Bang!!!

Hiruzen appeared, still with a serious expression for he didn't believe Danzo to have died.

And he also have figured out by now that each time he 'killed' him, one of the eyes on his right hand closes.

Such observation even in the middle of a battle can only be honed in the battlefield itself. Such is the experience of Sarutobi Hiruzen.

Upon Danzo's next return, Hiruzen was no longer attacking him proactively and simply stared at him.

Even Danzo himself looked at his hands.

'6 eyes left huh. Damn Hiruzen, however seeing as he stopped, is he finally tired because of old age?'

"Getting tired already, Hiruzen?" Danzo taunt to confirm his thoughts.

Hiruzen, in his battle armour of black suit and helmet with two pigtails while holding a staff standing behind him.

Just looked at his formed comrade.

"Getting rid of Konoha's real darkness? I don't think getting tired will catch up to me." Hiruzen taunted back as he prepared to thoroughly take care of Danzo 6 more times, and if by a little chance, capture him to have the citizens of Konoha witness his trial.

Danzo rushed at him.

"I should've been Hokage instead of you, Hiruzen!!!" Danzo shouted with burning emotions.

"I see." Hiruzen replied. his expression calm.

'So that's why.'

"Danzo!" Hiruzen retaliated in return with his staff in hand as they both duked it out with another Dance.

Hiruzen holding an adamantine staff while Danzo holding a wind nature powered short sword.

Every attack if connected, would fatally wound any of the two, yet as if with eyes on their back, blocking or evading each attack as both gritted their teeth, doing everything in their power to kill each other.
