Lonely demon

The more time passed, the more Tyler became impatient. He didn't bother training because he knew it was pointless. Even though he had his partial transformation that gave him a boost that he estimated was around the F-, F+ rank margin, he was still one of the weakest people in the academy which is why he wasn't going to bother participating in the tournament. Although those section 3 perks were tempting, he knew he wasn't capable.

Not a single night passed without him thinking about the system Ramiel promised to make.

With no friends nor Ramiel to tell him things, Tyler realized he was kinda lonely. Even his sinister conscience had turned silent ever since he awakened his partial transformation.

He couldn't even make a phone call to check on his family because he knew they were still upset by what he had done.

But all this silence did give him some time to ponder on certain things that he had ignored until now — the identity of those giants that came through the portals in his previous life, the first earth, who re-discovered mana? if Ramiel was in hell and probably working with the devil, the flame entity's warnings; there was a lot to think of.

The more he thought of Ramiel, the more his suspicions grew and the flame entity's words firmed in his mind.

"Don't trust a fallen!"

Ramiel was a fallen angel. Now that he thought about it, what was Ramiel's goal in all of this?!

If sharing this knowledge in the first place is what made him get banished, then why was he still sharing it even now despite it being forbidden?!

Tyler shivered all over just thinking of how he was about to walk this journey having blind faith in Ramiel without knowing who he was!

"Whatever, I need to visit the library...I think I'll find what I need there, But first, I need to get out of here!"

Tyler was currently stuck in a tree waiting for his body to recover after the nth time crushing while riding his hoverboard.

While everyone was busy training for the tournament, he was busy learning how to ride his hoverboard.

Since he spent most of his nights outside, he was oblivious to the number of people who had come looking for him in his room.

"Argh!!!!"

Cough* Cough*

In a bid to pull his head out of the branches, he ended up choking in between even more!

"Why?!" he lamented in rugged breaths. He had crushed into trees many times but never got his head stuck the way it was now.

Flame dagger!

Summoning a flame dagger in his hand, he began carefully cutting the branches while making sure not to make unnecessary movements otherwise he may end up committing suicide accidentally.

Crack! Crack! SCRUM!

The branches dropped, freeing him eventually.

With a gentle drop, he landed on the ground and picked up his hoverboard which was lunged in the ground.

"Huh.....another day, still no progress! I wish Ramiel left me with a goddamn manual!"

Setting the matter aside, he focussed on what was important — digging into Ramiel's past!

The Academy's library was a vast one that was as big as a residential section, featuring many floors.

Half of the floors were open to the public while the other half were restricted. Tyler guessed that the restricted areas were where skill books were kept. Anyway, that wasn't his objective being here. With the help of a map that was handed to him at the reception, Tyler quickly navigated to the mythology section of the library.

"Demons...demons and angels...demons...." Tyler muttered silently as he looked for anything containing either demons or angels or both.

After 30 minutes of looking, a large pile of books that towered over his head had found its way into his hands.

"Crap! When will I finish all of this?! Looks like I'll be staying two more nights without sleep...."

As a demon, he found out that he didn't need to sleep as long as he had dark energy in him.

"Need any help?"

At this moment, a pleasant voice sounded ahead of him. He couldn't see who it was but he replied almost instantly like he was charmed.

"Yes, please!"

One by one, half of the books in the pile disappeared out of his hands and he could finally see who it was that had offered him help.

"You!"

"You!"

Both of them said almost instantly with weird expressions.

"Please return my books, now!" Tyler said trying to pull off a mean and unapproachable face.

Unbeknownst to him, his heart was beating erratically as he looked into those beautiful brown eyes.

"No! Are you racist too?!" the girl who turned out to be Aurora, asked in an angry expression that still appeared cute to Tyler.

"N-no I'm not!" Tyler found himself explaining despite trying to be mean.

"Good! Then why are you such a jerk?!"

-Why am I feeling like this in front of her?! I can just ignore her and walk away! I don't need to explain anything...

"I don't want any friends, okay? That's why I'm a jer- ....F***K!" his mouth had betrayed him again! Why was he answering her questions off the bat?!

"pffttt!....Hahahaha!!!!!!!" Aurora burst into laughter instantly, "HAHa...it worked! It worked! Oh my god! The skill worked....hahaha!"

Tyler was confused at first but after her excited statements, he could already figure out what happened. Aurora must have used some sort of mental skill on him that probed him, to tell the truth instantly.

-That is only possible if her mentality is higher than mine!

Tyler was angry that his thoughts were invaded but now he was impressed. People mainly focussed on increasing physical attributes and often ignored mentality and intelligence, thinking that they were in-born stats and talent which was wrong through and through.

Both mentality and intelligence were variables like all the other attributes and were surprisingly the easiest to level up but no one knew this and he knew Aurora wasn't aware too.

Mentallity could be increased by suffering anguish and pain and persisting through it which Tyler went through almost every day trying to control his sinister conscience which plagued him with painful headaches.

If Aurora's mentality was that high, then it meant she had been experiencing worse! Yet she was still this happy...

He couldn't help but feel pity for her. He had kept track of Aurora and knew that she was a victim of bullying. But that wasn't enough to bring up her mentality to such a high level. The most likely possibility was that she had been facing worse while at home or in ordinary school from a young age.

"I'm sorry," he subconsciously uttered, stopping Aurora's laughter.

"Huh, sorry for what? I thought you would be angry after I invaded your privacy...I'm the one supposed to say sorry....."

Tyler blinked hard as he pulled himself out of his thoughts. He hadn't realized that he had spoken until Aurora replied. But even still she had misunderstood Tyler's "sorry". That sorry was for what she had gone through in her life.

"Nothing...never mind! Can I have back my books?"

-Why am I feeling this way? Is she still using her skill on me?

There was a stinging pain in Tyler's chest that made his words sound dismayed and depressed despite trying to act rudely.

"No! Since I offered to carry them for you, I won't go back on my word...Hey, you don't have to be mean to me. I also go through a lot but you don't see me being rude to people for that reason. Trust me I understand what you're going through...you might think the best thing to do is to push away everyone but that will only make you lonely and fall deeper. Unlike what you think, you need friends to help you through it. So from now on, I'm your friend, okay?"

Tyler's pupils constricted as another sting traveled through his heart!

-I'm not going through anything!!!!!!!! I'm fine! I'm not emotionally challenged the way you are! Arghh!

Despite being misunderstood by Aurora, Tyler didn't bother correcting her. Unbeknownst to him, a grin had even appeared on his face as he enjoyed the attention he was getting, like a kid who had his mother's attention.

"You know what? To hell with the no-friends policy! I like this attention from a hottie!!!!!!!! I like it a lot!!! HAHAHA!!!!!" A roaring and wild version of Tyler's voice sounded in his head — his sinister conscience was up again!

"Okay," subconsciously, Tyler had accepted Aurora's friendship. His sinister conscience had overruled his thoughts!

-SH*T, I didn't mean to say that!

And so like that, Tyler made his first friend. But the thing was....he didn't know the person he had befriended was someone who had caused mayhem in his past life — The Dark Soulmancer! The supreme revivalist's right-hand person who always wore a mask! A person said to have killed double the amount of people the Supreme Revivalist killed.

This little encounter of his had caused a butterfly effect that would change the course of history tremendously!
