It was truly omnidirectional, making it impossible to determine the exact source of the sound.
The powerful golden sword aura unleashed with a charged strike flickered twice before being abruptly dispersed!
"How is this possible?"
Nolan's pupils contracted slightly. That strike had used about eighty percent of his strength, yet it was so effortlessly nullified! Could it be that the dragon Durin has been resurrected?
Based on the intelligence he gathered from both the game and reality, Nolan believed that apart from the long-fallen dragon, Durin, there shouldn't be any being stronger than him in the Dragonspine mountains.
He should be able to roam here unhindered.
Of course, that was provided he didn't provoke Albedo. That guy had a level of around eighty-five, slightly higher than Nolan himself, and possessed formidable alchemy skills. As a scholar, he was also highly intelligent.
Nolan wasn't confident about defeating him.
At the moment, Albedo stood ahead of him, so it was impossible that he had disrupted his attack.
In the original story, there was mention of a fake Albedo appearing in the Dragonspine.
But that fake Albedo was easily defeated by the real one, so he shouldn't be capable of nullifying Nolan's attack so effortlessly.
Moreover, whether the Albedo was real or fake, the original story never mentioned them studying an attacking monster.
It seemed this was yet another event that deviated from the game's plot, and someone else was likely behind it.
Nolan, controlling the "Sword God," surveyed the surroundings. Whoever it was, they clearly didn't want to be discovered, as nothing unusual stood out.
"Hiding quite well, aren't you?"
Nolan raised an eyebrow, murmuring to himself.
The Cryo Hypostasis hadn't left yet, so he decided to strike again and see if anyone would reveal themselves.
As soon as the "Sword God" lifted the sword, a significant mental force suddenly enveloped it, binding it in place.
"If I were you, I would have run away earlier. Unfortunately, ignorance has cost you that chance."
The voice resounded once more, still carrying that haughty and defiant tone.
This time, unlike before when the direction was indiscernible, the voice was clearly coming from behind, and it was close.
The "Sword God" turned around.
Standing in "her" line of sight was a green-haired man wearing a black mask and dressed in a coat adorned with numerous belts.
A Harbinger of the Fatui—The Doctor?!
Seeing this figure through the eyes of the "Sword God," Nolan's heart tightened slightly!
Anyone familiar with the game's plot knew that the combat prowess of the top three Fatui Harbingers was at the level of a god, and The Doctor held the rank of second among them!
There was no way Nolan, in his current state, could contend with him.
To think The Doctor would appear here, and judging by his words, he seemed to be the one researching the power of the fallen dragon Durin in the Dragonspine!
"What's going on?"
At Starglow Cavern, Amber, noticing that Nolan had suddenly paused, turned back and asked curiously.
Eula and Albedo also glanced over.
"Hmm, my sword avatar in Wyrmrest Valley has encountered quite a significant figure," Nolan recounted, sharing his sighting of the Fatui Harbinger, The Doctor, who held the second seat.
"What, that despicable person?!"
A look of disgust appeared on Amber's fair face.
She remembered The Doctor's past attempt to conduct human experiments under the guise of a so-called talent selection process in Mondstadt.
She didn't expect that despicable person to appear in Mondstadt once again.
"Hmph, just in time. Let's go over there and capture him now!" Eula snorted coldly.
"I've heard of him too. He's a formidable figure. Setting aside whether we have the power to apprehend him, officially, we are allies with Snezhnaya. The Doctor is a Harbinger of the Fatui. Without evidence of him committing acts harmful to Mondstadt, we have no grounds to arrest him," Albedo said, shaking his head.
"Indeed, there's no need to provoke him right now. It's too dangerous. Let me see if I can use my avatar to drive him away!" Nolan nodded thoughtfully.
While explaining the situation to everyone earlier, his golden Eye of Judgment, through the "Sword God," had observed The Doctor's power.
Surprisingly, it wasn't as overwhelming as expected.
The indicator above his head clearly showed:
[Level: 89]
Although this level was still high, it was within Nolan's capability to handle. If nothing unexpected occurred, this should be one of The Doctor's "Segments" from a certain age.
The so-called "Segments" were avatars The Doctor created using precious resources, akin to clones.
What made them special was that each of The Doctor's avatars represented himself at different ages, and calling them all his true form wasn't incorrect. He believed that one's perspective on things changes as they age.
For instance, a youth's perspective is entirely different from that of a young adult.
Time is irreversible. Although one gains the perspective of a young adult as they grow, they lose that of their youth.
Thus, The Doctor devised a way to create avatars of himself at different ages, enabling him to possess the viewpoints of all life stages simultaneously.
This allowed for more ideas and inspiration in his research and experiments.
If there were no surprises, the "Doctor" appearing in the Dragonspine was likely one of these avatar Segments, not the peak, god-like version.
In that case, it wasn't impossible to exchange a few moves with him.
"Be careful. Don't push yourself too hard," Albedo glanced at Nolan and reminded him.
He couldn't quite read this young adventurer, but his strength seemed considerable.
Wyrmrest Valley.
"Heh, your true form doesn't seem to be nearby?" The Doctor, wearing a black mask, looked at the golden avatar he had suspended mid-air with mental force, asking curiously.
He scanned several kilometers around with his mental power, surprisingly finding nothing suspicious.
He had underestimated the fact that this person's avatar could be so far from their true form.
The "Sword God" couldn't speak and had no interest in doing so.
Breaking free of the mental bind with ease, it gathered sword energy and casually slashed through the air at The Doctor.
"Hmm?"
The Doctor noticed the golden sword energy from the avatar vanish suddenly. Sensing danger, he instinctively sidestepped.
As expected.
The sword energy appeared at the precise spot where he had just moved from the moment the golden avatar swung.
Thinking he had successfully evaded the attack, The Doctor shifted his attention back to the "Sword God," not wanting to waste more time on a mere mental avatar.
He released a mental shockwave, aiming to scatter it.
Just then, as the golden sword energy was about to touch the ground, it abruptly veered and struck back toward The Doctor!
