Chapter 2

After the play, the opposing team's coach calls a timeout to check if his player is okay.

"Are you okay, kid? Tell me if something is wrong so we can take you to the nearest hospital."

Seeing that his player was unresponsive, he calls for a medic. He substitutes his player to get checked by the medic as the game resumes after his timeout.

(MC's POV)

"Are you alright, kid?"

I'm deep in thought right now, I didn't even hear what the medic said until he patted me on the shoulder.

"W-what?"

"Can you hear me, kid?"

"Uhmm.. yes."

"Good. How many is this?" he asks, raising two fingers in front of my face.

"It's two. Look, man, I'm just tired. Maybe I just need some air after what happened."

The medic looks at me and shakes his head sympathetically. I know getting dunked on in front of hundreds of people is embarrassing, but that's not what's really on my mind right now.

What I'm thinking is why am I suddenly playing basketball here. All I remember from last night is sleeping after watching NBA highlights.

Just as I'm pondering that, a searing pain assaults my head.

"Urghh."

At my grunt, I sense someone approaching me, probably the medic. But just as I'm about to tell him I'm fine, the pain subsides and new memories flood my brain.

"Is there something wrong, kid?"

"No, I'm alright. I'm just... thinking about that dunk."

"*Sigh* you poor kid! Don't worry about that play. It happens to everyone. You're not the first and definitely not the last. So, cheer up, kid. This won't be the last time you get dunked on, especially if you're thinking of going pro," says the medic while patting my back.

Hearing that, my eyes twitch. I don't know if I should be grateful to him for cheering me up or annoyed that he thinks it will happen again to me.

Sighing inwardly, I'm just grateful that he buys my lie.

Getting back to the memories, I now know that the former owner of this body was called Takai Ichigo, meaning "tall strawberry." He was named by the matron of the orphanage where he grew up, due to his distinctive light-red, almost pinkish-red hair and tall physique for his age.

But he wasn't really that tall compared to some giants like Murasakibara. And yes, I find myself in Kuroko's Basketball or KnB world.

Standing at 6 feet or 183cm tall before the start of middle school, he was a prospect that every school wanted, even without any experience playing organized basketball.

Because of his height, he was recruited by Meiko Junior High and given a full athletic scholarship. This is his last year of middle school, and his last chance to win a championship.

At the moment, he is listed as 6'3 or approximately 190cm, at 15 years of age. Just by looking at his height, you can see his potential.

From what I gather from his/my memory, he is fast for his height. Because of his quickness, he can defend anyone.

And because of this, the coach usually assigns him to guard the greatest player of the opposing team.
