Chapter 22

Hiccup Pov:

 It has been 2 months since I started school. A few days ago I sneaked a letter to Johann for Astrid. It is a Saturday and we go to the Main hall for the regular announcement. Tomorrow I will see how everyone in class is doing in Maces in Talons with my usual challenge matches.

 "SILENCE!!" The Headmaster calls and everyone stops talking. "This week of class will be changed out for a Field trip." At this everyone cheers and then they start to quiet down so he can continue.

 "We will be going to a nearby Island Monday and we will be attacking dragons. Now a certain person lives their and if you can't take them down then we will go somewhere else." By this I know what the Headmaster means. He is talking about me or more precisely Ryder.

 The meeting finishes up and I go back to my dorm and write a letter to Thorfinn quickly without being seen. I take the letter and attach it to a Terrible Terror and send it off. Hopefully he gets it in time.

 I go back and start working on stuff I need done and require for the trip. As I am doing that Scribbler comes up and says. "I noticed during the meeting when he said someone lived there that you tensed up. What was that about?"

 Since I can't hide it from everyone forever I say. "I know who lives there. He does not like death or people trespassing, But he is fair. Though if you attack his dragons he won't go easy on you."

 "I can see what you mean, part of the reason I am here is to figure out how to fix something on a friend. His name is patch." Scribbler says.

 We talk a bit more and some time passes and before we know it, it is the day of the expedition. I put on my Armor, Shield, nd Sword and pack other supplies and head to the docks.

 There we board and head out. As we are going Mutism comes up to me and says. "If you decide to run off and warn that friend of yours that you were talking to Scribbler with I will play along." "Thankyou." I say and we continue on our trip.

 When we arrive, the Headmaster does rollcall and after that everybody sets up camp. I tell Scribbler. "I have to go do something so tell me anything that happens when I get back." An I run off before hearing his answer.

 I manage to get to the waterfall and head in. I see Toothless and Stormfly and greet them. From there i head up to my room and put on my suit.

 When all my gear is on I jump out the landing cave towards the expedition team on the beach. I see Astrid confronting them and Right before I land beside her I hear Dagur say. "Who are you and why are you protecting the dragons." I land and say. "We are the protectors of this island and have protected it from far worse than you." I decide to play along.

 "But who are you?" Dagur asks. Astrid decides to Answer saying. "I am Valkyrie and this is Ryder." At the mention of my alias Ryder all of them back up including Dagur.

 But then more people come out and I am wondering what have I gotten myself into.

 I call out in a Dragon roar and a army of Dragons some and scare off most making it possible for me and Astrid to finish off the rest.

 I send the Dragons back and confront Mutism and Scribbler. I run and doge their attacks and land a hard hit on Scribbler in the stomach knocking him out. As for Mutism I land some strong hits on his sword chipping it.

 After he sees it chipping he grabs Scribbler and makes a Run for it. I look around and see Dagur and another running from Astrid.

 Since I know Astrid can be questioning I tag out with Thorfinn and he takes my spot. I get back and put my stuff away. I grab my other gear and go back to the camp joining Mutism and Scribbler.

 As Scribbler is getting tended to Thorfinn asks me. "Did you really have to chip my Sword." At this I am surprised. "How did you know it was me?"

 "I have a keen sense of smell. Also I saw what happened to Scribbler, you hit hard. Normally in our Hand to Hand Combat he does really well." Mutism says and I am surprised that Scribbler was doing Hand to Hand Combat.

 Everyone else is terrified of the amount of dragons and are begging the Headmaster saying. "Please we got to go back. We don't stand a chance." To this he chuckles.

 "One thing only one person I know here has gone one to one with Ryder and won, that was Hiccup on his journey." The Headmaster says putting me on the spot. But hey at least toothless is safe.

 But now everyone is bombarding me with questions. "How did you win. What's his weakness's." Well I might as well answer. "I have been sworn to secrecy, but I will say that he is one of the best fighters and blacksmiths I know. Of the few who stayed behind he fought 2 knocking one out in a single blow. I would say don't fight him." An I leave.

 We decide to go back and go to a different place to practice. After that we head back and the Teachers decide to figure out how to improve people's courage.
