John took a deep breath and wrapped his arms around Julia, pulling her into an embrace. He felt the warmth of her body and the softness of her skin, and he felt his heart ache with a strange emotion that he had never experienced before.
"John, is something wrong?"
Julia's voice was low and concerned, but John remained silent.
His mind was still in turmoil. He was not entirely sure what had happened to Julia, but he could feel her sorrow whenever she spoke to the voice. And she was all alone, she had to shoulder all of it by herself.
He couldn't help comparing his own struggles with hers. Whilst John situation was also hard, he had eventually found Charles and Robert, but Julia had no one. Even her own husband turned out to be a scumbag.
"Everything's fine, Julia, don't worry," he whispered and kissed her forehead.
"But, what about you? What were you dreaming about?"
Julia stared at John with a curious expression, and John smiled wryly.
