The group then reported to Eldric about their hunt." And Solen came and helped me kill off the last deer leader." Galen reported. "And in the meantime, the rest had captured and dealt with the rest of the deer. Ther is about 25 deer remaining, most of which are at the early stage totaling to about 15 deer. The mid stage deer amounts to about 7 and the late-stage deer are only 3 deer." Solen reported.
"Good, then we quickly need to deal with this problem. Tomorrow morning everyone would help build the enclosure for the deer. We have to make it quite a large enclosure, roughly about the same size as the horse area (about 100 by 200 meters in size). We will connect their area to a section in the barn for shelter. The deer is more used to forest areas, so we should keep it to their liking and have quite a substantial forest right in the middle. Clear the trees next to the fences." Eldric said as he thought about the next day's procedure.
"Everyone will help finish the barn tomorrow and their corresponding habitats. If we can manage to get some bears and tame them, we should clear and area for them next to the mountain wall as it would suite them better." he suggested.
After they had finally finished planning, they went to join the rest of the House at the campfire who were already preparing dinner for the rest. Their night went on as usual, full of laughter and songs and stories. The celestial painted sky above and the beautiful, enchanting flame before them and the suttle smell of oakwood in the back. The night scenery was exquisite.
The night passed by, and the morning rays began to shine. Eldric had woken up and had taken care of the horses in the cavern first before he walked outside towards the barn area where he could see roughly 60 people scurrying about with pieces of wood or sturdy boulders over their shoulders. The House members were finishing up the last space for the horse area and the goat area before they would shift their attention to the area for the deer.
Eldric planned the barn and enclosure to still have some of the animal's original environment. For example, the horses have a clear and open meadow with a small stream to drink from that was artificially created all the way from the river and lake. The goats had their own mountains area, where a large number of stones and boulders were placed to retain some of the mountain area for them. Lastly the deer would have a forest area, the forest would be in the middle of the enclosure and the trees next to the fences would be chopped down.
It did not take long for the group to finish with the horse and goat enclosure before they were in full throttle to build the habitat for the deer. Some could be seen chopping trees; others were busy building the fences and some were building the foundations of the barn area for the deer. With almost 60 people, and half of them being Knights, working to complete the enclosure they were able to finish quickly. Eldric had even come to help, full of dirt and sweat as he laughed with the others.
Before midday came by the deer were already released into the enclosure. As they were still wild beasts and Eldric and the group did not have any way to tame them completely, a few guards would be stationed to watch over them. After the deer habitat was finished, the group left for the wall of the basin, the bear habitat would be far away from the deer. They started reconstructing the area for the bears. Eldric wanted the deer as livestock for a few reasons, 1 – as food, 2 – their skin can be used as clothes and daily items and lastly 3 – the deer can be used as agriculture helpers.
The deer would for example be used to help till the land. Until they could find a more suitable beast the deer would be used, only those at mid stage and above would be able to handle the load.
Finally, they wanted the bears as symbols, well at least for now. The House would use the bears for security reasons, if they were tamed, and at the moment as a symbol. Eldric had the idea that the idea to use the bears as beasts to pull certain cargo for example, they had decided that a group of knights would head to the nearest town after the bear subjugation. What if they could arrive with a bear pulling their carriage and cargo, Eldric was drooling about such a vision. Even his father's house, who is one of the most prominent pure knight households in Naloria did not have a dire beast for such circumstances.
While the group was busy a person could be seen rushing toward the big group he shouted exhaustedly," Quick, Patriarch come quick. We found a huge herd of horses." When Eldric heard the man a smile appeared on his face, he quickly ordered," Leave immediately, leave everything and let's quickly capture the horses."
The whole group dropped everything they were doing, and they rushed back to the barn. When they arrived, they could see a herd of around 30 horses leisurely grazing on the white meadows in the horse habitat. Without hesitation he shouted, "Quick the Knights, go forth and decide who shall be your companion!" The group of knights immediately rushed forward under Eldric's command. After about 10 minutes of waiting the whole group of knights could be seen on a horse. Every knight had a companion, "Congratulations, now you finally have a friend to spend your life with. Remember, this horse is yours and yours alone. He is your lifelong companion and should be treated as such."
"Yes Patriarch" sounded as the group shouted in unison. "Good, now take care of them and let them relax in the horse enclosure. If you are finished with that return to the bear enclosure. We have work to do" he said.
