Just hearing that she was going to ride a horse and pass along the side of a steep cliff made Joanna's mind turn numb. When it was added that she was going to ride it with a man that she was supposed to maintain her distance from, it made her feel like she was becoming paralyzed.

"Do you already forget what we talked about last night?" Canillas interrupted the flow of turbulence in Joanna's head.
