Pet Gorilla

As soon as I heard Diana and Connor break in, I waited for Jake to turn and look out the door. Once he did, I jumped in through the office roof panel and used the light fixture to swing towards Jake. Before he could turn around, I had shifted into my Gorilla form and pushed his head into the door knocking him out. I quickly shifted back to human form and tried to reassure the kids it was ok. 

Stretching the truth a little I say, "Hey Kids, my name is Logan and Tammy sent me here to help you all get out so you can go home." Once they were calm enough, I told them, "I'm going to turn into a big animal called a Rhinoceros and push a hole in that wall, when I do there will be a pretty lady in a bus waiting to take you to a place to wait for your parents. Is that ok?" 

Making sure the kids were far enough back that any falling debris won't hurt them I say, "Wait for me to come back before you go out, I have to make sure nothing will fall and hurt you." I then make the change to a Rhino and start pushing on the wall with my weight. 

I know there is no way to do this quietly but I'm hoping the noise Diana and Connor are making will cover it. The wall starts to give way to my pressure, the cinder blocks shifting I feal my horn has pushed all the way through. With just a little more effort I have created a hole big enough for me to walk through. A couple cinderblocks fell and hit my broad back but for a Rhino it may as well be rain. 

I see Cali and the look on her face is comical, I shift forms and hurry back into the warehouse to start the kids moving to the bus. Carrying a couple of the youngest I get them all seated and turn to Cali, "Hurry and get them to the police department. I was there earlier and maybe the child services people are still there from the kid we dropped off their earlier. Tell them these kids had been kidnapped by Intergang to be planted in the Circus as you left to make it look like the Circus was into trafficking kids. Tell them this address and above all you need to keep them safe. You got all that Cali?" I asked her. 

Cali, "You owe me a long-detailed explanation after this Logan. Don't disappear on me!" 

I smiled at her and ran back into the warehouse as she pulled away. 

Getting to the door I opened it quickly to go and help Diana and Connor finish up the kidnapers, but I was met by a young woman with short purple hair. She was about 5ft 8in and I would guess her to be 130 soaking wet. She matched the size of the woman that was looking for Tammy, so I went on the defensive. 

She looked over my shoulder and said, "Great, you got them out and now I have to go hunt a bunch more down. What a pain." 

Logan, "I wouldn't bother, the cops know you were trying to frame the Circus already, so it won't work now." 

Archlight, "Well there goes an easy paycheck. Unless we bring in you guys for screwing up the plan. I can't wait to hear how you know about it anyway. No way a little kid told you about this plan." 

I'm not interested in talking when I don't know the condition of my teammates, so I just go Gorilla and throw a punch at this girl. No one kidnaping kids deserves a second thought on receiving a beatdown. Unfortunately, my punch doesn't strike her as my balance is off when punching. I swing my other fist and it's slow and sloppy, she has no trouble dodging it. I shuffle forward to keep my feet under me to help with my balance issues, but my legs don't help much to center my balance at my waist. The torso of a gorilla was just too different. 

Archlight watches me stumble around and seeing an opening she hits my shoulder with her fist, and I feel a sort of shockwave rumble through my torso. (She hit me way too soft for that kind of thing to happen.) 

Archlight, "Interesting, you should have hit the floor with that much shockwave running through you., even as big as you are. Guess I need to ramp up my powers for a fellow mutant." She slams her two fists together and I can actually see a vibration ripple in the air. 

Dropping the martial arts I was trying to stupidly use in a form not built for it. I relaxed and waited for her to make a move. 

  Noticing that the vibration stayed focused on or around her hands I came up with a plan. I move to my right, but I stumble over some debris and start to lose my balance again. Archlight tries to capitalize on my lack of balance and strikes at the opening. Just before her fist can impact on my chest, I stop it by grabbing her forearm. With no hesitation I squeezed, and twisted, snapping her arm at a 45-degree angle and pulled her to the ground belly first. With my other fist I punched her in the back of the head and knocked her out. 

Stepping out of the office and into the warehouse I see a car in flames with both Diana and Connor nearby. Walking towards them was the big guy that was looking for Tammy along with the girl a fought in the office. Looking at him now though I could see the green kryptonite in his metallic chest cavity, and I knew instantly who he was. 

Poor Connor, they guy just can't catch a break. Talk about punching a wall only to find the stud with one knuckle. Seeing Metallo slowly walk towards Connor continuously bathing him in the green glow of his power source I rush in to distract him while Diana and Connor gather themselves. Knowing that even with my gorilla strength I was no match for someone who could go toe to toe with Superman I figured I had to approach this with some sort of subterfuge. 

Roaring at him and clapping my chest to get his attention away from Connor I charge at Metallo. 

John, "What's this, you guys have a pet gorilla? Why would you paint him green, I would think that color would be taboo for you Kryptonian's. Or was it so you could identify him in a group of gorillas." 

I rush at him with my arms above my head and try to bring them down on his head, but he catches an arm in each hand. Laughing at the futility of it all, John continues to taunt Superboy. 

John, "Despite what you may think kid, I am betting superman will be quite torn up when he learns of your deaths. Losing so many of my physical senses has made me enjoy the mental ones all the more, especially the thrill of seeing people despair and mourn over the loss of loved ones." 

Diana standing up from the wreckage of the exploded car says, "You talk too much and do far too little damage to talk of killing anyone here you automaton. Is kidnapping children and using radioactive poison to make others helpless the peak of the abilities you have? Exploiting a weakness during battle is common sense but to make that your whole battle plan is pathetic, don't you think? Show me your true metal in a fight!" 

With Metallo being distracted and still holding my arms I shout in my head, {Now Morph!} 

Morph jumps out of my body and wraps himself around the kryptonite and then jumps back to my shoulder all within a second. Once that is don't I change back to normal and slip out of Metallo's grasp and jump back. Morph drops the chunk of kryptonite in my hand, and I quickly change into a Niffler. I was curious what will happen to items in my Niffler pouch if I change shapes and this was as good a time as any to find out, so I deposited it in my pouch and changed back to my human form. 

As soon as I'm clear Diana charges Metallo and with a few punches she puts him on the ground. 

Logan, 'I wouldn't struggle Metallo, you only have the energy left in your body to keep your brain alive, if you deplete that you may never come back at all." 

Terrified of that happening John stops moving all together not even taking the energy to reply. 

As Diana and I check on Connor we hear sirens approaching from a distance and start to gather all the thugs we knocked out in one place for easy collection by the cops when they get here. I quickly contacted J'onn and told him what happened, not sure if there was a special prison for enhanced or if it was all handled by the local police. 

J'onn assured me the local police had a unit specifically for handling these types of criminals.
