It was right there.
Giovanni found himself right there, back at the scene six years at the place of the accident. He didn't know how he got here, since he had been avoiding this phase of his life.
Since he had been avoiding sleep, since he didn't wasn't to be brought back here by his subconsciousness, but then it seems he had no control over it.
He stood aside, trying to find a way out of this nightmare that has been haunting his mind for years but he found no escape route.
It was as if something was holding him down, holding him from waking up from this bitterful nightmare of his, until his heart beat palpated watching the scene unfold in front of his fidgeting form, again and again.
The man who had ran over the street signal to save him from the incoming car that was hot on his tail, had met a dire fate by running into a double decker while instead of being hit by the black car whose plate number was still vividly clear in his mind. The perpetrator had ran away watching the scene leaving him in a perilous state of mind, to counter the regret and guilt that came watching that man, his saviour, die.
"Wake up, please mister!" His seventeen year old frame cried, over the unconscious body of the man who was bleeding all over him. He was scared, he didn't know what to do, to check his pulse to see if he was alive but the blood was too much.
All the seventeen year old could understand out of what had happened, is that someone had tried to kill him. To run him over with their car and instead an innocent civilian had saved him but met with death.
"Somebody call a doctor!!" He yelled, at the empty street that no one was in, it was as if everyone decided to avoid this arena because no one was there, it was just him standing besides the unconscious man, he had no idea if the driver of the double decker was still alive.
Until his phone ran, then did he remember that he was with his phone. With shaky hands Giovanni watched his seventeen year old self take the call and call his father, alerting him of what had happened.
It didn't take much before his father and his men came, he assured him that he was going to take care of everything before he was taken away from the scene.
"Take care of the cctv in the area, and make sure no one eyes gets a whiff of this." He heard his father tell his men, before driving him away but not without him living with the guilt for the rest of his life.
The guilt still followed, he had no idea what his father had done with the body of the man. All he knew was that he was assured that everything had been resolved.
"You killed me!" The man who saved him appeared suddenly, with his body all bloody like the last time they had met.``You repaid me with nothing , for that you need to die!" Giovanni did nothing but let out an ear piercing scream before his eyes snapped open, to meet reality.
It was all but a dream.
The sunlight seeping into the room made him know that he was in the land of the living, he wasn't dead. The heavy breathing of his heart calmed down a bit, before he felt warm hands around him, then did he look at his side to see the woman from last night.
He removed her hand from his body, at this point he didn't crave any human touching him, not knowing why she wasn't awake yet to leave. Giovanni sat up on the side of his bed, before cupping his head in his hands, he had a blinding headache but that was nothing compared to the dream he had.
Why did he suddenly dream about that night?
It's been awhile since he last had that nightmare pertaining to that incident six years ago. Suddenly dreaming about that made him uncomfortable, and he's forced to think about what his father ended up doing with his body.
He never really got to ask his father how everything went, because the next day he received the bad news about him leaving the country to continue his studies.
What if they never really buried his body?
Was this why he came to him in a dream, angry?
Giovanni shoved away the thoughts about that to the back of his head, his father might be heartless but he wouldn't be too wicked to have done that. After what that stranger did for him, he should have a befitting burial and if he had a family they deserved all the good things life can offer.
So, without wasting any more time he stood up and went for his drugs and gulped them down in one go. He didn't remember when last he went to have a session with his doctor, but maybe this was all a sign for him to continue with his treatment.
When he took his bath and came out all dressed up, he was surprised to still find the girl asleep on his bed. Does she think this was their honeymoon or what? She should have been gone by now but considering the great night they had last night, Giovanni disregarded the idea of waking her up himself and making her leave.
But then he still had far more important things to talk about with his father, and also to meet his doctor. So, he left the room only to walk in on his housekeeper doing her job.
"Good morning, Mr.Russo, I trust you had a good night rest?" Mrs.Adams asked, with a smile but when he saw the dark circles under his eyes she was worried.
"You don't look good, would you mind sitting down for a cup of chamomile tea, sir. You don't look great." She offered but Giovanni declined.
"Just make sure that the lady upstairs leaves right away when she's awake." He said, and Mrs. Adams lips formed an 'o'. She's not ignorant to his Casanova lifestyle, but she had lived with him since he was a kid and before he left for the state to know the kind of man he was.
Giovanni said lastly before leaving the house, in order to coordinate his life that was on the brink of sinking with the way his mind was at war.
