Harry felt something hard bump into him but he held on to his broom successfully. He had never expected Cho to be this aggressive so he subconsciously glanced sideways.
Every single person stared at the weird scene happening in the air. No one had ever seen a beater chase a snitch. Alex was right behind Harry and he was getting closer at a rate faster than Harry getting closer to the snitch.
His heart began to beat harder and faster as he leaned even forward, hoping that his broom would surpass its top speed. His hand was just a few inches away from the snitch when Alex began to speak.
"Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall…. Humpty Dumpty had a great fall! Hehehehehehe, hello Harry."
Alex's words disturbed him to unprecedented levels and as a result, he lost his concentration, only to see the Ravenclaw beater block his path after overtaking him.
It was only a fraction of a second but that was all it took for him to lose sight of the snitch. He grit his teeth as he turned towards Alex who was looking at him as if waiting for something.
"I never expected you to do something so cruel just for a game, Alex. Even the Slytherins are better than you."
"Oh… well, yeah. My teammates think the same but do I look like I care about what you think about me? Maybe try to learn about the things your father did while he was at Hogwarts before you try spouting bull shit. Haa… people call you the boy who lived…. Hahahaha, so foolish. You can't deal with a few friends of yours getting hurt… I don't know how you will deal with deaths."
"Wh… what do you mean by that?"
Alex simply shook his head, "Maybe pay more attention in divination classes if you want to know. Don't expect me to spoon-feed you the answer when you ask something."
Before Harry could say something, Alex took off to continue the game. Harry punched his broom angrily until his fist hurt and flew up to continue circling in the air.
Lee had stopped commentating a while ago and there was absolute silence in the stands as the match continued.
Ron bit his knuckles as he looked at the players, his attention fixed on Alex who was leisurely hitting bludgers towards Angelina and Harry randomly. The bludgers never hit them as Fred and George were defending them.
It was when Jason hit a bludger extremely hard which flew towards Angelina that Percy jumped up from his seat and shouted, "HEY! Fred, there are two! There are two!!!"
Fred hit the bludger away and heard his brother's shout which subconsciously forced him to look around but it was too late. Another bludger shot at him from the opposite direction and hit him straight in the face, knocking him unconscious and off of his broom.
George flew down to catch his twin but he was too far away. Alex was readily waiting for Fred with his hands outstretched and caught him before safely handing him over to Poppy who was frowning as she stared at him angrily.
"Hey you, listen. If you injure any more kids, I will make sure you will regret it."
Alex stared at her silently before shaking his head, "I'm sorry. I don't make the rules and also, there's no need to do it anymore. Three people can't win a match against seven. Maybe I'll take one more out…. I'll think about it since there's so much time. Anyway, do take care of him. Thank you"
"You could win the game even if you simply played seven on six. Why injure more?"
"…. Probability. The more players that are in the sky, the harder it is for me to achieve my goal. Simply winning won't cut it, Madam Pomfrey. My goal is to win the house cup and to do that I need somewhere around five hundred points. As long as I don't get bored or find someone to be a threat, I won't hurt anyone else.
Also, throughout our history, a lot of people were injured while playing quidditch. Don't blame me for hurting people just because I want to win. You are doing your job as a healer by treating these guys and I am doing my job as a player by helping my team win. It's simple."
He flew off after he was done speaking, leaving Pomfrey staring at his back before she turned towards Fred to take a good look at him.
The match went on for another hour as Ravenclaws amassed more points for their team. When they reached six hundred fifty points, Alex flew over to Cho and gave her the snitch he had been holding all this while.
"Here you go…", he said and flew down after leaving her stunned. There were no cheers as everyone silently walked back to their common rooms. No one wanted to even look at Alex as he entered the room but he still felt gazes on him.
He left the room to get rid of the uncomfortable feeling and returned Malfoy's broom before heading out to the grounds. He felt calmer here compared to his common room as he headed to a thick tree and lay down under its shade.
"Ha- this was the first time I did what I wanted to do but I feel so weird…"
He muttered as he stared at the leaves and thick branches.
'Is this how people felt when they did something that would make others judge them? Bad things? Evil things? No… that's not it. I've killed people and felt nothing.
I have unicorn corpses stored in my ring and I still don't regret it. I gave a cursed book to an innocent girl without a thought and yet… I don't care… Today I simply broke some people's bones and I feel weird… is it guilt? Nah…. I'm sure it isn't guilt… After all, I felt nothing when I did it…'
