[Yuito's POV]
**
**
In the bustling city of Gangnam, the weather was kind, not too hot, nor too cold. The sun was shining brightly on the city but with no heat, only gentle warmth.
It was Saturday and the people walking in the street were dressed in beautiful clothes, unlike the weekdays where they would dress in their uniform or for work.
Today, they dressed to impress and they were not going to their work but having fun. That was why everyone was smiling and a joyous atmosphere was in the air.
Dressed in a rather fashionable manner benefiting the ones in Korea, I walked amongst the people with a hat and a mask on.
I was enjoying the day, trying different Korean street foods and sights of the city. I also had earphones on as it played the famous song 'Gangnam Style' on repeat.
I would bob my head and match my pace with the beat of the famous song. But as I walked past a dark alley in one of the more empty streets, I paused.
I walked back and peeked at the alley and saw a bunch of teenagers dressed as adults, drinking and smoking while a nerdy fat kid was kneeling and holding the bottle of alcohol like a maid.
I took my earphones off as I sighed looking at the sight, "Again? how many does that make?"
{That's the third time already. Korea is not a place for beginners and nerds.} The author commented, that he sounded solemn.
Bullying was prominent in Korea. I didn't know if it was the same in my past life or because a manhwa was interpreted in this world, but it is what it is.
It does not stretch to adults though but I have noticed quite some teenagers bullying their peers. Most of the time I walked right past them because it was not really violent but it left a bad taste in my mouth.
But then again, I could do nothing about it. Heck, I was not even going to be in Korea for more than a week.
I was sensible enough to not intervene because I knew the bullying would just get worse if I could not solve the problem permanently. The bully will just come back with vengeance on the victim if I save them one time.
But this one was harsh because they were using the kid's hand as an ashtray to put out their smoke as the poor kid writhed silently in pain.
The delinquent-looking guys, three of them and two girls laughed and joked around as the boy stayed silent.
I had to fight down the urge to intervene and beat the shit out of those kids. Should I do it? Will the kid even be thankful?
There was a conflict in my heart.
A conflict I solved by calling the local police station and reporting minors drinking in some alley and fighting. The number of the police station was advertised in quite a lot of space after all.
Surprisingly, the police came and I left the scene with a bit of ease in my heart. I made my way to a famous picnic spot that I heard about.
it was one of the places a vendor I bought food from recommended for me after he found out I was a foreigner.
---__---__---__---__--
"Oh shit, that's interesting." I said, looking at the couple with matching jackets sitting on the bench.
I had reached the place and walked around before I stumbled upon this sight. i remained a good distance away as I observed both of them.
Bomi and Hobin. The hero and heroine of the manhwa 'Viral Hit'.
It looked like they were on a date, both of them knew they were on a date but they were too shy to make it official.
Hobin, like any loser, was losing his shit as they talked about their type of partners. They looked happy and fulfilled as they talked to each other, both had love for each other.
But I winced because I knew exactly what was going to happen next. Pkago, Hobin's bully is going to come here and humiliate Hobin in front of his girl.
Pakgo would beat up Hobin and make him strip naked and make him apologize by now towing in front of him, all in front of the girl he loves.
It would be the ultimate humiliation, the lowest a man could ever be in. Whatever pride Hobin had would be shattered and he would cry in defeat.
But it was also a turning point for Hobin, it was this moment that pushed him to learn how to fight. Gave him the determination to fight the toughest fights later on in the series.
Knowing that, I watched their happy moment together, one that would last only for a short period like a break during school hours.
And behold the enemy came, only after five minutes. Pakgo, the bald bully came with his three delinquent friends.
They also had a beaten-up Snapper, who was Hobin's friend and cameraman,
The sky darkened up and the kind weather was no more. Now the weather was angry and sad because of the events that unfolded next.
Pakgo began beating up Hobin in the most violent and brutal way. Hobin tried to fight back with the only technique he knew, 'How to get hit without getting hurt' but that did not work as he received a big uppercut in the chin.
Bomi, was held by the other three dudes as she watched helplessly as the bullies beat up the man she loved. She struggled fiercely but her strength was not enough to get the grip off her. She only screamed at them to stop.
Snapper, the cameraman was at a distance, he was forced to film the whole thing in a live stream. He cried through his swollen eyes as his friend got beaten up, too weak to do anything, and not brave enough to stop recording.
I looked around and people walked by but ignored the violence that was happening. Instead, they scurried away as droplets of rain fell on the earth,
I also stood still, only observing as the rain poured down and lightning flashed in the sky. I didn't do anything.
Why?
{"It's canon event."} the author and I said together.
But it was not only a story about suffering, it was also one of courage and perseverance as Hobin got up again and again after each beatdown. He tried to execute the only technique he knew but was not strong enough.
10 minutes in and the beating subsided. Pakgo breathed heavily as his muscles got tired, the bully had his fill of blood.
But Hobin was curled up on the ground like a pathetic worm, protecting his organs. He was crying but he did not want to show that to Bomi, he hid it in the rain.
Hobin's breathing was shallow, as if the simple act of breathing hurt his lungs. But he spoke anyways despite the pain.
"Let..go of Bomi." He said, begging for the girl he loved. he did not mind if he was beaten, he was beaten all his life.
But Bomi, he couldn't beat he though of her being hurt.
"BEG!!!" Pakgo screamed, "Strip your clothes and kneel down. Ask me for forgiveness and grovel near my feet. Then I will let her go." His smile was psychotic.
Hobin looked at Bomi and felt ashamed of his weakness. But if it meant her safety, he was willing to throw away whatever pride he had.
He began stripping.
Bomi cried. She closed her eyes and looked away.
She was unable to bear the sight of her love getting humiliated. She spared him the dignity of not stripping in front of the girl he loved.
All of this was recorded by Snapper, and the live stream was watched by thousands. Hobin was not only stripping in front of the five people but to thousands of people as well.
But he had a smile on his face. The most brittle smile I have ever seen. It would break with the wind, He knelt down on the ground, as low as he could.
And as he finished taking off his jacket and his torso was left bare, I decided it was enough. Quite enough actually.
"Korean kids sure are tough huh?" I said and walked to them. They all turned to me except for Hobin who was looking at the ground in absolute shame.
I took off my hat and mask to reveal my face. Bomi's teary eyes lit up in hope and recognition.
Well, I think I am angry.
Just a bit.
