"That doesn't prove anything," I countered. "In fact, it might make him more suspect. How was his relationship with the Enchantress in Green?"

Alyssra paused, as if struggling to remember. "We were all friendly back then. But Edron was never particularly close to the enchantress."

"So, if Edron felt obligated to pursue the Orb, he might have felt it was his duty to ensure he'd be the next Dragon Emperor," I speculated.

"I can't accept that," Thaleia retorted, visibly angered. I burst into laughter. She stood up, fuming. "Care to share the joke, Viktor?"

"I find it amusing that we're discussing a man who, in his quest for the Orb, caused massive destruction and loss of life, and you're offended because I'm questioning whether he manipulated some evidence."
