Lady Lingji forwarded a tiny scroll toward Xianwu. "It has come from your mother," she said.
"When?" Xianwu asked, looking at the scroll.
"Last night," Lady Lingji replied. "I've not read it yet since I thought you should check it out," she asserted.
"I don't need to read it," Xianwu said. "Throw it away," he added. His expression was neutral as if he didn't care who his mother was anymore.
"You lived in agony thinking I betrayed my mistress. And now, you don't even wish to see this?" Lady Lingji inquired. She felt it would be too unfair for Xianwu not to learn about his mother for which he always remained angry with them.
Xianwu frowned to hear her. "I was foolish thinking she ever cared for me," he pronounced.
Lady Lingji pushed the scroll to his hands. "Keep it to yourself. You can decide whether to throw it away or keep it with you." She left the decision to him.
