Lost it

"She knew what true loyalty means. She had seen it… and loathed it. Thus, she knew loyalty at first sight. She didn't see that in you."

Dominic and Dane stared at each other for a moment after Dominic's last remarks. Dane ran his tongue across his inner cheek, reminded of that woman who spoiled his plans. 

"Haha!" Dane chuckled, shaking his head. "No, you're wrong, Dominic. Although you were right that I chose you because of that reason. How many men who stand on the same ground as you have a clean track record as you?"

It wasn't initially the power or the influence Dominic held that attracted people like Dane to him. It was the fact that despite Dominic's position, he was well-respected and well-connected. On top of that, Dominic was clean of any corruption. All his taxes were paid, his employees well-compensated, and his company upheld its integrity. 

Dominic was free from any illegal activity. He was as clean as a new canvas.
