"That is where you are wrong, love. You stole their boss's heart." Skai rolled her eyes and kept her phone in her bag, straightening her spine.

Her yellow fitted office gown made her look graciously beautiful. Just the sight of her alone, Damien could agree why people would throw shades at her.

"That is something many want but cannot have. I understand how they feel but their behaviour is uncalled for. I will handle it."

Skai shrugged, not bothering. She knew Damien was trying to be supportive, but she wasn't sure he knew what he was getting into.

He didn't need to protect her or defend her.

"I'll be fine. Thank you. I don't care for what they say. Let them. I'm used to it. It is their way of dealing with rejection."
