Phoenix’s POV.
“How is she?” I nervously asked the elder Star Seeker as her wrinkled hands hovered over the body of my mate.
“There is no change,” Henrietta sighed looking up at me. “She is shrouded in shadows.”
“What did you say, mother?” Maggie asked her mother from behind me.
“The Luna is shrouded in shadows,” Henrietta repeated the phrase that sent chills down my spine.
“Alpha Phoenix—”
“Nix. Please. There’s no need for formalities,” I begged the Star Seekers.
“Nix.” Maggie nodded at me, looking back at my mate on the bed.
“When Luna… When Adel fainted. What did you feel through your bond?”
“Nothing. There was nothing,” I explained.
“In your bond not in the tether, pup,” Henrietta chastised me.
“I’m sorry…” I stuttered, confused by the elder Seeker's words.
“Why don’t you consult with the fates mother? I’ll take it from here,” Maggie said, guiding her mother out of the room, and gently closing the door behind her elderly mother.
