Cane could see the fear and confusion flickering in her blue eyes and this set alarms off in his mind, especially when Iris didn't react the same way as she used to when he touched her earlobe.
"Cane?" Iris asked him. "What happened? Are you okay?"
Cane growled dangerously when he saw Iris raise her hand to touch his face. He took a step back and let her go, as he glared at her.
"Who are you?" Cane narrowed his eyes.
Iris gasped, she furrowed her brows. "What do you mean? It is me. Did you forget your own mate?" Iris walked closer toward Cane, but he swatted her hand when she tried to reach out to him again. "Cane? Why are you reacting strangely? It is me, Iris."
Cane stood in his place. His dark eyes turned slightly darker, as he stared intensely at the woman before his eyes. Did he make a mistake? Was she really her? Probably he was too tired, that was why he became a little bit irrational?
"Cane, why are you doing this to me?"
