Appraisal

I stood in front of a large parking lot with few cars parked there. The time was around 6.20 am and there weren't that many people walking around.

Above me, the light posts illuminated the whole area since the sun had yet to appear. It was to be expected since it was in the middle of January.

Behind me was a large mall where I had mentioned to the man on the phone to meet up. I wasn't really gonna give the guy my house address. That was just foolish.

I arrived a bit earlier than the time which we had agreed on, which was supposed to be in 10 minutes.

Looking down at my hands I noticed that they had started to get cold. I brought them to my face and blew warm air onto them and then placed them in my jeans pockets.

As I gazed back onto the street, I saw a black expensive-looking car. As it came closer to me, I recognized the brand which was Mercedes.

Seeing that it matched the description of the car that was supposed to pick me up, I waved my hand toward the driver. I then saw him make a U-turn and park a few meters away from me.

The chauffeur that was dressed in an all-black suit came out of the car and went toward the passenger door. He then opened the door and signaled for me to come in.

"Sir, are you presumably Robin Spane?" He asked while looking at me.

"Yeah, that's me," I said while walking to the car before entering the back row.

The chauffeur closed the door before going back inside the driver's seat. He buckled his belt before then asking if I did the same. I replied by doing the same thing.

Noticing that I was tucked in, he then began driving towards the auction house.

As he didn't bother asking any questions or looking at me and instead just drove, I decided to do the same and mind my business.

I touched my chest and felt something strong under my hoodie. That was right, I had brought a vest with me if anything went south. Not only that, but I also learned how to make a gun and bullets before arriving at the mall.

I have seen people get killed in broad daylight for meager things although not in person. so when I show a red diamond, I was sure that it would cause a big ruckus.

And although the auction house was a legitimate business, who knew what occurred in the dark. As someone who has big goals and people to protect, I wasn't willing to die in such a bad way.

Soon after we arrived in front of a big modern-looking building that was four stories tall. In front of it was another man wearing a black suit.

As the car stopped, the butler came out of the car and opened the door for me. When I stepped out, I was greeted by the other person standing on the walkway.

"Mr spade, I'm glad you could make it, I am the one who talked with you on the phone before. My name is Richard Key." I could already tell that it was him by his unique voice.

"It's nice to finally meet you in person Mr. Key." Noticing that he had brought out his hand for a handshake, I proceeded to do the same.

"Come with me, the gemologist is waiting for us." He then guided me toward the building

Inside the main building was a large hall with a receptionist in the middle. There stood a woman sitting while typing something on a computer.

On the left stood a sign that said "Auction" room and on the right was a "Staff" room. And Key led me to the right one.

We soon arrived at the room that the gemologist occupied.

*KNOCK KNOCK*

"Dr. Banner, it's Key. I'm coming in." He said before soon opening the door and entering along with me.

Inside was a curly blonde-haired middle-aged man with glasses. He had a lab coat on along with a white t-shirt and blue pants. When he noticed us come in, he stood up from his chair and walked around the table before arriving in front of us.

We shook hands and introduced ourselves and sat down right after to have the conversation.

"Mr. Spane would you please be kind enough to let me see the red diamond."

I then took it out of my pocket and unwrapped it out of the cloth before then handing it to him.

Of course, I was voice recording this whole conversation if they decided to not give it back and just kept it.

Noticing the large crystal, both of them went into a state of frenzy with gawked expressions on their faces.

The gemologist because he would get to inspect such a rare piece of crystal. And Richard because he would surely get a promotion for finding this customer. But that was only if the diamond was real, to begin with.

Soon after Dr. Banner took out his tools and started to inspect the diamond. And throughout the appraisal, he took on different types of expressions.

It started with confusion, bewilderment, and shock before his face lit up with glee.

" The diamond is real." He said excitingly
