They stand paralyzed in the dark. The sound of the creatures rush to get to them carrying down the slope as it blunders through the undergrowth. The moonlight reflects off the water below them. So near, yet so far.

David breaks the spell that has fallen over them. /" Move, move, that fucking thing wants Adele; let’s get the hell out of here./" They spill out of the bush, onto the small sandy river bank where the launch is tethered. Piet helps the two women into the launch, while he frantically scans the bush, his rifle at the ready to drive back the beast. David urgently tries to undo the rope, his hands slick with sweat, unable to get a grip on the knot. With growing panic in his voice, David urgently whispers in Piet's direction. /"Get into the boat Piet; start the bloody motor, that fucker will be here any minute./"
