The young woman strolled along the winding path that snaked through the mountainous farms. Her long, curly black hair, which reached her waist, was stirred by the breeze, obscuring her face. Her striking features are impossible to ignore. She moved forward and stood behind a group of farmers. Seeing everyone with baskets in their hands. Moving forward, she picked one for herself, holding the little boy's hand tightly.
The young woman's attire was a marked improvement from the garb she had worn in her homeland. Surveying the group of people around her, she noticed their clothes were made of similar materials to hers. This observation brought a sigh of relief, as everybody was treated equally, and her lips curled into a smile.
"Richard, this is our home now," Kira whispered as she protectively held the little boy's hand. "No one will fight here."
Richard tightened his grin on her hand and replied, "I like it here, little Kira. I never want to go to that place again." At this, tears started streaming down his cheeks.
"I promise you, no one would ever separate," Kira said as she embraced him and gently wiped away his tears.
He nodded slowly, breaking away from her hug. He loved it here, with their home, and no one would beat them every other day. His greatest fear here were the two soldiers who saved them, they were scary.
However, their emotional moments were cut short by a commanding voice in front of them. "Boys and young men, it's time to head to the training field, the soldiers would escort you there."
The voice's owner was obscured from view. But the orders were received and people moved quickly. Richard was taken away, despite his reluctance to leave Kira behind.
Kira felt sorry for the little boy. "Will he be able to endure the training?" She asked herself aloud. But the middle-aged woman beside her replied,
"Don't worry, dear," the middle-aged woman beside her assured. "The training is tough, but he will make it through with just some bruises at the end of each day. My son has been there for a week now." With that, the woman was summoned to join her group and left Kira after Richard stunned back.
Kira was directed to join her group of corn harvesting. She picked up her basket and trailed behind them, moving at a slow pace. Her heart was heavy with corned for Richard, who had no prior experience with swords fight or training. Despite this, she knew she had to work and avoid being lazy, especially since this was her first day.
Kira picked the corn in silence, still preoccupied with her worries. By the end of the day, she was exhausted. As she left the farm, she encountered an elderly man who was moving slowly and carrying a basket overflowing with herbs.
"Let me help you, sir," Kira offered, rushing over to support the elderly man with the basket.
The man, Grandfather Winger, smiled warmly as they set the basket down. He thought to himself as he watched the girl was kind, she was eager to help him, despite her wiping the sweat that had gathered on her brow now and then.
"Grandfather, why did you choose to reside at the cliff of the mountains?" Kira asked, settling down on the nearby rock. Despite her questions, she could feel the cool, refreshing breeze of the mountains wafting over her exhausted body, providing her with much-needed relief.
Grandfather Winger approached her with a cup of water and sat on a nearby rock. He observed the young and brave girl with a gentle gaze. I haven't seen you around before. How is Markus treating you at the farm, my dear?" he asked, changing the subject.
"Today was my first day, grandfather," and the supervisor was not too bad. He even gave us free lunch," Kira smiled, reminiscing about the delicious she had earlier.
"It was appropriate for them to feed you, as you were working hard, and it's impossible to work on an empty stomach," he chuckled while observing and rubbing her belly gently. Stomach.
'So it seemed food brought her joy,' he pondered to himself. "Where did you come from?" he spoke aloud, voicing his curiosity.
"I come from the Kingdom of Vinita, Grandfather," she replied, trying to mask her emotions. However, when she turned to face him, she found that he was already watching her intently.
"May I call you Grandfather?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly, as tears threatened to fall.
"Certainly, my dear," Who brought you from the Kingdom of Vinita?" he queried, noting that her eyes were now clear.
"I only overheard the name of one knight, called Rico, and the other tall handsome and handsome knight with a muscular physique went unnamed," she said, a scowl appearing on her face as she remembered the intrusion into her home.
"Ah, those two knights!" Grandfather Winger was taken aback by her that she had referred to the King simply as "knight."
"Do you also know them, Grandfather?" she asked in surprise. "Did they also rescue you and bring you here as well?" she was impressed by the old man's memory and ability to recall people.
"Yes, they rescued me but not from another kingdom," Grandfather Winger responded, choosing not to delve further into the subject. Kira didn't push further when for more information.
Grandfather Winger was deep in thought, grappling the situation with the fact that she referred to those exceptional individuals as mere knights. Suddenly, he heard her speaking.
"I would be taking my leave now, Grandfather. My friend should be back by now," she announced, raising to her feet.
"You should come and visit more often, young lady. You and your friend are always welcome here," Grandfather Winger said, standing up and accompanying her to the stairs.
He watched as she descended and disappeared. Her petite frame and determined demeanor fit her character perfectly. He smiled. "Did they look like knights in her eyes?"
