CHAPTER 111

288 AC

A/N:The anti-magic comes from the steel, not the sword; he didn't have time to experiment

with it. After the war, I am going to expand on it. I have other plans for the Valyrian weapons and armors.

....

I couldn't think of anything to get out of this situation. I had only ten mana left, so I used one more spell to see if it would have any effect.

"Tegonleta (Earthbind)"

I lost the mana, but nothing happened besides some sparks going off. But at that moment, Lyka jumped in front of me and tackled the guy to the ground. Just as I was about to be happy, a great emptiness suddenly appeared inside me, and then a great sense of loss. I couldn't feel Lyka anymore.

The red sword was sticking out of Lyka's neck, and the man ripped the sword out of her neck while almost decapitating her. It was like the world had stopped. In my eyes, nothing was moving. The great sense of loss and emptiness started to be consumed by the wrath that was swelling from the deepest points of my being. Then I felt that red membrane again. Everything turned crimson, but I didn't stay away from the membrane this time. I used the last part of my mana to penetrate that membrane, and it popped like a balloon.

On the other side of the membrane was a raging inferno. It started to enter my body like an endless ocean and tried to consume my mana heart. I was burning with rage, but I didn't let it consume me as it did before. I begin to pull mana from the atmosphere, and after swirling this flowing inferno in my mana heart, I direct it outward without letting it settle.

Rings of flame began to form around me like heartbeats and burned all the soldiers around me to ashes. But that wasn't enough to take the inferno out of my body. It wasn't flowing fast enough. This caused my body to start burning. I could almost feel my body temperature rise every degree. I was using all the mana I could gather from the environment to pull the inferno out so it would flow faster.

In this way, the inferno wave started to gather in a single point instead of spreading in all directions. Meanwhile, the man who managed to lift Lyka's corpse stood up with difficulty, but these spreading flames were also starting to burn him. It kept coming towards me forcibly while it was burning slowly, but I began to focus all these flames toward where he was and pushed it out with all my might. I was directing all of my willpower and mana toward the man. Pulling the inferno out was becoming painful.

"AAAAAAAAAHHH!!!"

It was too painful, I didn't have any more power left in me, and I was beginning to black out. I felt like I heard Lyka's voice, and her face came to my mind, she was looking at me while her tongue was out of her mouth, and she was looking at me while turning her head left and right. She looked so silly. I raised my head and saw her dead body, my foggy mind filled with rage again, and the fog dissipated.

While focusing the inferno on the man with one hand, I drew the rune meaning "sacrifice" on the ground with the other hand and offered Lyka's body. Whereupon part of the inferno left my body and turned into a small sun-like ball in front of the man, and the other part started to circle around my mana heart and then stabilized.

It was evident that the red sword was trying to resist the heat and flames emanating from this little sun, but the armor on the man was starting to turn scalding red, and the sun in front of him suddenly cracked like an egg, then a wolf-shaped creature entirely composed of dancing flames appeared in the middle with a huge beam of light, it was small around 40 cm. At that instant, the man burst into flames while screaming in agony.

All this had happened in less than a minute. Seeing their commander dead, many of the Ironborns started to run away, but some of them were coming toward me to take revenge. Seeing this, the fire wolf started running toward them and started spewing fire at them. It was like small fireball spells, but when they made contact, it exploded. My other familiars were able to come to me, and at that moment, I had no strength left, and passed out.

-----

When I came to myself, I was in a cave, and suddenly I remembered what had happened and said.

"Lykaaaa!"

Seeing me awake, my familiars gathered around me, and Poe asked.

"Daddy, are you okay?"

"Lyka, did she really die?"

"Yes, she died while trying to save you."

For a few days, I didn't talk or do anything. I just sat, looked at the sea, and thought about what I could do better. So, Lyka wouldn't have died. Another four days passed, and I was really depressed. All I could do was blame myself for being so arrogant.

She was not just an animal to me. For me, none of my familiars are just animals, and they are all an indispensable part of who I am. Wargs may feel their animals' pain when they are bonded, but they are just animals to them. I may not have felt the pain that Lyka felt, but there is now a void, a massive sense of loss at the point where her bond was. My pain stems from the emotions and bonds we had. I could still feel the vestiges of her adoration and love for me, but it was all lost now.

Meanwhile, my other familiars must have felt my negative emotions, so they came to me one by one. Poe came last, and I sensed more anger than sympathy from Poe, then Poe said angrily.

"Enough! You are our father or master, and all of us love you with all our being, and all of us rather die than let something happen to you. What you are doing now is an insult against Lyka's great sacrifice."

Then Imu said.

"To uss, it iss a tremendouss honor to be able to ssave your life. If we have to give our life in exchange, we will willingly and gladly give it."

Berus said:

"Thanks to your power, all of us gained sentience. We are not just ordinary animals now. If we have to fight for these wonderful boons, then we will."

Erebus said:

"You know we are not your slaves. We are obeying you because you deserve our respect and obedience. She didn't sacrifice herself because she had to. She did it because she wanted to. You treat us like your children and like your friend; you love and respect us, and in return, we love and respect you."

Sith said:

"Master, please stop being like this. I don't like when you are like this. If Lyka saw this, she would be sad."

The love and understanding shown by each of them brought me to myself like a slap. I have to stop being sorry for myself; at the very least, I shouldn't wallow in it.
