Chapter 32

"We can't stay here forever," Aubin whispered.

"But we can't leave her here," Izara argued in a low voice.

"Do we even have a choice? How long will you baby her? I'm taking no part in this anymore. I have a mission to complete," Aubin insisted.

I let out a long sigh and said, "You should all go. Don't mind me."

"How will you survive alone?" Izara asked.

"It's my problem to solve. You have yours. Izara, I'm not your child. I'm just a neighbor heading in the same direction as you."

Izara hesitated, looking for support from Scipio, but Scipio knew better than to stick with me. "Izara, darling, we need to leave."

"But, honey..."

Scipio pulled Izara away from me. "Come on, darling. This is as far as it gets for our companionship."

Reluctantly, Izara nodded. Before leaving, she hugged and kissed my head, eyes teary, and left some food packages. "I wish you the best."

They left.

I had lost track of time.
