The royal guards had no choice but to relent, seeing that the mother empress was so determined. However, they continued to stay alert and were prepared for anything unexpected that might happen. 

Their guns were pointing at the door, ready to shoot at any time. Levin also didn't persuade Liviera anymore; it pained him, though, that all of them were alert to the potential danger his mother could cause. 

Levin only stood there, holding a gun, but unlike the others, he didn't point it at the door. He just couldn't do it. As expected, his resolve wasn't firm when the one he loved was involved. 

He wondered why the emperor assigned him to this mission in the first place? 

No matter what Levin thought, this wouldn't change Liviera's decision, as he slowly opened the door. Contrary to everyone and his expectations, he was extremely calm at this moment, to the point that it seemed abnormal.
