Chapter 35: Duel

“Tristan, a man never kisses and tells.” I laughed at Tristan’s blushing face.

We stood by the trees and watched my mate leave his home. We followed them secretly until we arrived at the edge of an arena that was already packed with shifters.

I watched as Alpha Lycus stood by the entrance and then he turned and looked into the trees. I knew he could sense my presence as Tristan took a step back and murmured, “How does he know we are here?”

My mate was powerful but no one knew what Uncle Markus had planned. Alpha Lycus walked to the ring and I increased my vision to be able to watch the whole duel.

Seth stood and instructed both the Alpha and Uncle Markus as the rest of the shifter pack cheered on.

“We don’t need to do this, Uncle Markus. You can retract the challenge and we maintain peace in our pack,” Alpha Lycus suggested.

“Who the f*ck are you to tell me what to do? You are weak and compromised,” Markus Ahren growled.
