A reunion of the century

"So, that's what happened?" Khalid muttered as we walked through the cave, the stones illuminating us in orange light as we trekked through the uncharted territory. He looked at me with a look of disappointment yet understanding.

"That was a bit of a overreaction," He muttered, turning to look at the path ahead, "though you're not in the clear either."

"Whatever," I sighed, following him closely behind with Zorua on my shoulders. "I've already made my peace with the fact I probably wont see her again,"

"You dont sound too convincing," Khalid pointed out, stopping suddenly, his gaze landing on a weird looking stone, buried deep within a stone pieces of it's lava red hue sticking out of the dried fossil. 

It's glow enough to illuminate our eyes as we stared in wonder getting closer to it.

"Is this what you looking for?" I asked my hand couldn't resist touching it.

"Yup," Khalid gives off a wicked smile, his hands brushing against its cold hard surface. "I can finally get out of here and stick it to Steven when I get back haha," He mumbles to himself.

"Lairon! I choose-" He shouts, reaching for his pokeball, his hand grabbing at the empty spot agron used to be. "You…." 

"Right, he's up there," He groans looking at me with determined eyes. "Quick teach your charmeleon rocksmash, here i'll give you the-"

"I can't,"

"Come on! It's not like it's permanent, if you find the right person its not gonna stay." Khalid pleaded practically on his knee's to me.

"No i mean I can't cuz," I pointed up, "My pokemon is also up there."

"Great- so what now?" Khalid sighed, looking at the rock that taunted us so, glittering gems illuminating the cave in an angelic appearance.

"We can always aqua jet it-" I suggested, throwing things to the wall and see what would stick.

"We can't- hmm." Khalid thought about it for a while, his gaze reaching mine then back to the crystals.

"Let's do it."

"So this Ayuna guy-" Ajiro murmured, looking ahead of him, his gaze staring into the back of Jeffery as he led the way. "You know him by chance?" 

Walking through their headquarters Jeffery stopped by a door, blue rays emitting from inside once it was opened, the light bouncing off the dark gray metal walls.

"We were friends." He responded, walking inside as the two followed him.

"So where is he now?" Ares pondered, skipping by him with a playful sway, her hands behind her back in merriment. 

"He's a in a vegetative state right now- in the halls of the headquarters locked away." His words caused her to stop, her eyebrows furrowing over her yellow gaze, watching both him and Ajiro walked past her.

"The Ayuna in the timeline that we're about to meet- he's going through the same pain, where I died instead of him." A small smile broke from his face, one thats filled with sadness and joy all wrapped into one tangeled mess. His heart racing in his chest at the thought of seeing his friend once more even though it's as enemies.

"He shouldn't know our identities, or the plan will only come to ruin. Don't mess this up." he murmured as they come up to a portal, the portal that emitted the light they were all too familiar with. "You maybe talented according to lord Iotoma, but you're still rookies."

Ajiro and Ares smiled at his challenging words standing behind him their hands reaching for their heads in a loyal salute. Before shouting in unison

"We wont let you down!"
