Chapter 37: Approaching Danger

In the process of self helping. Mark walk out from the maze thinking about the battle he had with femme fatale girl, he was wondering, the sword wasn't suppose to be that strong and he wonder what sword technique did she use to push him to the corner.

He arrived at the gate and saw edelina waving her hand. Waiting for him.

Mark approached her hastily.

"March where have you been. I've been waiting for you here"

"sorry, I just visit the alchemist class that's why I'm late "

"alchemist class? No wonder your hands where trembling and you seems to have few scratches... Are you injured? "

"yeah, I got splash by a toxic substance but I'm fine"

"what?! Can you atleast be careful?!"

"Alright, I'll be careful next time, later then"

Mark hastily run towards the direction of the forest, but edelina suddenly grabbed his hand. Stopping him from moving forward.

"Wait where are you going?"

"Don't worry, I'm just going to the forest, I just saw a purple light there" explained mark. With a doubtful look, Edelina replied.

"Then I'm going with you"

"No need, there might be some danger there. I won't be able to protect you if something happened" insist mark. Edelina didn't let go and replied adamantly.

"No I'm coming, I can also protect myself" helplessly, mark had no choice but to let her come. He knew sometimes it hard to change a woman's mind.

"Alright. Let's not waste time here, it's getting late we still got things to do"

"Where are we going? Atleast let me heal you!"

"No need and I'm fine, just help me out, there's something shows up that I'm familiar with... Something dangerous" he said without stopping his pace.

They moved fast as they can be. He even held her up even though his weak, luckily edelina was lighter than most girls. They the reached the outside of the city gate.

In the dense forest, where thick tree trunks and many kinds of magic beasts lived.

A purple streak of light, swirling nearby forming a spherical wormhole and what came out of it was a twig like staff with a golden fruit atop it, after dropping it. It vanished all of the sudden.

Mark saw it coming even from far away. he knew what it is, giving him bad premonition that such things happening in the plane.

"quick! Edelina the space-time portal is right there, let's look at it"

"March, wait! Your too fast, I can't catch up... And what's the time-space portal?"

"don't worry we're arriving there, and I'll explain it to you later"

As they run, they have reached the vicinity of the twig's fall.

Mark saw a familiar twig with a crystal like fruit up it, like a magical staff, and he knew the terror it will brought in the world.

Mark walk at it slowly while edelina stopped catching her breath.

Looks like his premonition came true. As soon as he held the purple twig in hand, the usual window panel pop up.

It was quite fortunate that the the world tree of silvermoon empire negates the effect of the item and it wasn't used, or else unknown portals will suddenly shows up, one by one releasing a legion of phantom elves.

The shadowy world tree,is just like any world tree, only one can exist in every plane.

Phantom elves are elves that located in a mysterious plane, unlike a real phantom, just like the dark elves, they likes to move at night. Mostly they only move at night and these types of elves can become a shadow like creature and be immune to physical attacks but magic still could hurt them.

One of the reason why the item wasn't used was. It was still daytime when it found. The phantom elves moves only at night and their was no concept of day in their mysterious plane. In the other plane with daylight, just like a vampire they sleep all day and possess any shadows of things and settled there. They weren't a friendly being and they were also half undead.

"March, what's that thing, is it a twig? Look there's a beautiful amethyst in that twig"

"I know. It's dangerous so I'm gonna keep it at a safe place"

"dangerous?"

"yeah, this shouldn't be here, or many will perish." Spoke mark in a serious tone, making edelina confused.

While they were chatting seriously. suddenly a wild ironback boar, a tier3 magic beast that was roaming outside the city, charged at mark and made a strong impact. Mark didn't seems to notice it coming neither did edelina and Mark was charged by it, making Mark stumble far and injured.

KUUAAAK!!

"March!!"

Mark dropped the twig midair and to Mark's surprise, the big ironback boar ate the twig with it's fruit whole.

Mark vomit a mouthful of blood and was injured, edelina awaken a nearby tree into a treant and summon it to fight the big boar and edelina ran towards Mark hurriedly.

"March!! Are you okay?"

The treant hit the big boar but it's wooden arm broke being hit by the boar tusk instead. It wasn't enough to put a fight to it. Until the treant collapse like a house, falling apart.

The boar saw an opening and charged towards edelina.

"edelina!! Behind you!! Cough... " in a helpless situation, he cough out a mouthful of blood due to the injury he sustained and even with such injury. He didn't waver as he tries to pull out his weapon as quick as possible out of his inventory.

Nonetheless, he might not make it in time knowing, his reaction speed slowed.
